Hi El,
I am surprised a few more haven't chimed in by now. Maybe most are still learning the LTD like I am. It is going to be different for you then any detector you have used. Including, the F 75 and T 2. If, of course, you use it in the bp mode.
One of the first things I discovered with the LTD was the added advantage it affords one if hunting in tall grass. I was hunting low spots that the mower blades couldn't get down to for cutting and the grass/weeds were 4-5" tall and the LTD in bp was easily hitting coins with the 11" coil 6-8" deep. And "easily" is the key word here. Just yesterday, I was swinging over an area with the 5" coil that was thick with those onion clump looking type of weeds that were 4" or so high and dug a 42 Merc. that was 5" deep.
As a previous F 75 user, you will quickly note that the LTD runs quieter. Also, while it is susceptible to emi in various situations, it can be quieted down by lowering sen. and or, using more disc., like disc 6 verses 4-0. While some loss of depth occurs, I've still dug numerous coins down to 7" with bp, sen. 60 and disc. 6.
My biggest complaint with the LTD was that it didn't id coins the same as my F 75 does. Most coin targets were always a bit bouncy and the vid was always 5 or more numbers higher. I say was, as yesterday I began to really zero in on targets as well as slowing my swing speed down even more then I had been and I was getting good "typical" vid readings on most coins I dug. 3 silver dimes from 4-5" deep read 73-74. Cents and clad dimes read where they typically should. To get those readings, though, I had to have a precise pinpoint. Being off just a very little bit resulted in readings of 73-78 on the silver dimes. The LTD is simply "hotter" then anything I have ever used and every target under the coil, good or bad, is, simply put, amplified. Good targets do stand out, though, when hunting in the trash with this detector.
I have used all three coils, 5,", 6 1/2" and 11" on the LTD and all get excellent depth. In bp mode, it does get a more depth then in the de mode. So, as a previous F 75 user, you can be the judge.
My 2 cents worth, anyway.
