F75LTD....Probe

I would like any info on a good probe hand held or inline.....the targets up near the surface could be found easier after location.......thanks ....hh....Dan

as far as I 'm concerned the only one to buy to own is Detector Pro Pistol Probe-depth of 6' -uses PI -its only fault is the holster is to tight but the performance is unbeatable by anything on the market-call MRBILL he'll fix ya up with one

Thanks ww I'll be checking into them soon.....good luck hunting.....Dan

It's kinda interesting... Garrett makes the best designed, best performing metal detecting probe, however, they also have some of the weakest technology within their metal detectors, IMHO.

I cant comment on Garrets technology its the only one i have not owned yet . Not including the Pro pointer that is very good.
But if not for the Ace and the Pro pointer Garret would be in a lot of trouble.

I am not sure about the new LTD, but with the PI probes it caused so much interference with my F75 I had to buy another probe. I was using the Vibra-Probe 570. An awesome probe, don't get me wrong. It just reacted with my F75 and didn't have an on off switch so I had to wait for a minute or 2 until the unit turned off to start detecting again. I bought a Garrett Pro Pointer and it is the only probe I could use with my F75, I love my probes. I had a Sunray Fx-1 for my F75, but the cord sometimes mucked with me pinponting deep targets. I didn't like keeping the detector so close to me while I was digging. I'm a bull in a china cabinet in other words when I dig. IMHO i like the Garrett Pro pointer,,,1 because it doesn't react to my F75..2 it has a light, audio tone and vibration when pinpointing targets.

Music to my ears!!!...I was worried about interferance issues...Thanks!

I use a Garrett Pro Pointer with my F75 and it works great -- blows away the Whites Bullseye II that I used before.

But now, I'm wondering if I should sell it and get the DetectorPro probe for the extra depth???

I own the Garrett probe as well as most of the others. I do like the Garrett a lot BUT something I noticed awhile back (and this is an FYI, not advice to avoid the Garrett probe) is that it does interfere with the high freq Fishers and Teks. I initially noticed this when I was field testing the 75 LTD and since I still had the original 75 and a T-2, I double checked with them and it occurred equally with all. I also confirmed this with 4 other 75 detectors and G-probes. 100% occurrence rate. In the Disc mode it is definitely less audibly noticeable but there is some effect in the form of slight additional chatter if you're already running in the noise. In all metal, it is much more noticeable. Now before you all start thinking I'm nuts because you have been using one of these probes in combination with one of the mentioned detectors and no apparent effect, keep this in mind....the "interference" occurs when you're hunting and the probe is OFF!!!!!!!! I know....I was flabbergasted too. Try this to confirm. For maximum effect, turn your 75 whatever or T-2 whatever on like you would be hunting. As you'll see, sens settings aren't critical but start in AM and use the typical slight threshold. Now with the probe OFF, move it around at different proximities and angles to the coil. You'll quickly see what I'm talking about I assume. Repeat in disc mode and you'll still get some audio reports due to the probe and degree thereof related to how far away from the coil you carry it when hunting. Probably the most noticeable "problem" that one will notice in the field will be when hunting in all metal but will be only slightly present even if you carry the probe 180 degrees away from the coil. Experiment and you'll find the best location. Now, I'm not implying that the Garrett probe and the high freq Fishers and Teks are not compatible. Even after I discovered this last August and September I still continue to use the combination at least part of the time. I tend to grab one of my pulse probes if I know I'm gonna be hunting in AM and the Garrett if I'm hunting in Disc or either way if using one of my low freq Fishers or Teks.

:drinking: :crylol:

How close to the coil are you getting it how could it interfere cut off.
I use mine and hunt all metal 90% of the time never have noticed this.

Say if you are right handed and carry the probe over on your left side at the waist (at 9:00), you'll probably at the very least hear a threshold change when the coil is at your left most swing of the coil. If you're looking for the "interference" you should easily hear the probe when it is waived up around the control pod and aimed somewhat towards the coil. Actually, the threshold change when the coil was all the way over to the left is how I first was prompted to investigate this further. I remember back when I used CZ's a lot, they were sensitive to "too much" metal worn or positioned over on the left side. So with the 75, at first I thought it was stuff in my pouch and when I found out that wasn't it, I then figured it was my hand digger (carried right behind the pouch) and or shovel which I carried over my left shoulder. Nope..that wasn't it either. At that point I still didn't consider that it could possibly be the probe when it was off! By process of elimination, I found out it was in fact the probe and that's when I found out just how much the probe did rock the boat as it got closer to the coil. So now, I wear the probe around behind my back just off center to the left and it works as well as possible.

Very interesting and something I never considered, Brad. I'll have to pay attention and check it out.
