F75SE :fisher: Giving The Virgin Site Another Going Over:detecting:

I've been over this small site with the AT Pro, the Tesoro Vaquero, and the F75SE and I'm still finding silver. A total of 15 silver coins, 71 wheat pennies, and some other neat stuff. It's hard to hunt out a site, even if it is only about the size of a double tennis court. Today I found 2 Washington quarters (1949, 1957) and a few wheat pennies (1913,1945, 1920, 1944, 1948, 19??). When I got the audio signal on the first quarter and looked at screen the ID numbers were bouncing up into high 80 range. It didn't sound right to me. I figured it could be a coin spill or something else that would be interesting to dig. Every time I run across something like this I think of Mudpuppy and all of his coin spills that he finds. Well, I dug down around 6 or 7 inches and popped a 1957 quarter. I wasn't expecting that so poked around in the hole with my ProPointer to see if there was anything else in the hole and found nothing. I covered the hole back up and ran the coil back over the hole and got another high tone that was about 3 inches to the side of the hole that I had dug. I dug down and popped a 1949 quarter that was sandwiched between two wheat pennies. They really stained that quarter. My settings today were 7 for the discrimination, 60 for sensitivity, GB 67, Boost Mode with either the 3 or 3H audio.

Tabman, how do you like the new fisher 10" dd coil on your 75 ,... as far as separation and depth? Comparing it to the little 5".

Thats a mighty fine haul on those Q's especially since you've been over it many times.....I think you are right, theres a lot of good metal in the ground that is masked spills..

The NEL Sharpshooter coil is my favorite coil. It gets good coverage, good depth and separates well. It also does a good job handling EMI.

The little 5 inch coil also gets good depth and does a heck of a job at separation, but it's slow going and not quite as deep.

All round I like the Sharpshooter best.

I'm just waiting for the day that I unearth a pile of old silver coins in one hole. Maybe a gold coin or two in there as well.
