F75SE :fisher: Hammers A Humongous Ornate Silver Ring

I have never used the 5 inch DD coil on my new F75SE, so I thought I would give it a try today to see if it worked OK. I had it on about 5 minutes and decided that it was not enough coil for the large open non-trashy area I was going to be detecting. So I started detecting back to the car to swap coils and BAM I got a solid loud high tone. The ID numbers where bouncing around 85. I just knew I had me a walking liberty half dollar cornered. I carefully dug down a few inches and found a huge silver ring. It may not be a walking liberty but it's SILVER! I spent a large part of the rest of my day riding around looking for a new place to hunt. I found a few, but I felt that I needed a gun and backup to halfway hunt at those places safely. I did find a place that turned out to a great place to coin shoot. Using the Sharpshooter coil I must of found and dug 50 quarters. Every time I dug I was hoping for silver. I figured it has to have silver there because I found a couple of wheat pennies and surely being a sports field there has to be a ring or two lost. No such luck, but I ain't done searching either. I betting that there's at least one gold ring, several silver rings and some silver coins at this new location. :detecting:

Nice ring Tabman! Congratulations. Need to carry something with you at all times. These TN. crackheads are everywhere. HH :fisher::minelab::teknetics:

By the looks of your plate, you won't be out tomorrow, you will be recovering from todays hunt. Mighty fine looking ring. Good find. :cheers:Think I'll go towards the river tomorrow. HH jim tn

Do you ever run DP tones on the SE ? That's the only way I hunt with my F75 but it's a standard version. Someday I will have a SE but I'm holding out to see what the new release will be this year...hopefully not just the F19.

Nice ring !

I don't know much about the F75SE. I'm still learning on the swing. I'm going to give the DP tones a try one of these days.

I mainly listen to the tones to tell me to dig or not to dig.

Monster ring and a monster of a clad grab there! Whooowhee.:clapping:..excited to see what you pull out of that new place next! I hear you on the "bugs" coming out...some of my parks I could not hunt at all last year on account of them..just too thick and would have got mobbed for sure....some sort of sidearm is indeed a repellant, but man, who wants to get into a gunfight over a few pennys? nice work!:please:

Nice work Tabman! You just need to carry a side arm and wear a FBI T-shirt. Go with the tactical look!

Mud, around here they'll rob a convenience store clerk of a few dollars and then shoot them just for the Hell of it.

If I knew they would just rob me and not kill me, I'd feel a lot better about things. :)

Sounds like a great place to live. ..

I don't live there, I just detect there.:detecting: Germantown where I live is a totally different from Memphis. Not all of the places in Memphis are bad, but the ones that have lots of silver coins are pretty bad. The silver coins are still there for good reason.:)

Yep...Memphis is one tough place....Let me throw this out there as a business traveler... if you are thinking about heading there to detect, make sure you know when the COGIC convention is in town...all the hotel rooms are booked for 100miles in all directions...either way, you are gonna come out of that town robbed, or saved, moderately wounded, or in a box....from one plucky lad planning a raid someday! Timing is everything, and we missed the window for this year.(Jan/Feb)...the bugs are out...try to stay safe you Memphis hunters, or at least get some pictures of the aftermath and post!

I was in Memphis a few years ago for a meeting and I can see what you mean! Stopped at my sisters house in Knoxville and it was a whole different world. I CC when I detect, only because I always CC so it's just habit for me. I would rather be safe than sorry and it only takes one time to really ruin the hobby for you. I work with a guy who was jumped and beaten and robbed by 5 guys walking home one evening. That poor guy carries an arsenal with him now...wish this crazy world didn't have to be like that but in some places it just is.

Mud, COGIC left Memphis after many year's and now hold their convention in ST Louis. There are two sides to every story, but they non the less gave the county a good boost in its economy, annually. If tabman and I combined our last couple of hunts into one post, it would still be a lean post. But, there is always tomorrow. HH jim tn
