f75se settings please

henrytheeighth said:
Im new to this and just bought the f75se and would like recommended setting's please?
Search the F series forum using the terms, F75, settings and also F70, settings and a huge amount of threads will pop up with many settings used by hunters.
No hunters seem to use exactly the same settings but all find the ones that work best for them and all seem successful.
Factory settings work well on the top Fisher units, start messing around with all the combinations and you can optimize these things to work in almost any setting under most conditions.

State what are you hunting for and in what kind of sites, conditions and depths and I am sure the F75 guys can be more help.

Hey, Welcome to the Forum HT8th!:clapping:

Like Revier said, tell us a bit of where you are hunting and what your primary target focus might be...it makes a big difference in getting the proper feedback..ie: if its civil war relics at an old camp, or general purpose modern parks for jewelry/clad, hang out here a bit and like he said, do a deep dive into some posts and try to pattern settings based upon what you want to find on the others using their rigs for that kind of hunting....theres people here that sweep everything from beaches to totlots, and your initial settings will be very important to your success and enjoyment with that wonderful machine you got...

Hi all. Thx for the info but I just need some basic settings listed. I do field detecting

Basic settings are factory start up settings.
Start there and tweak at will.
If you can bump up the sense and thresh a little higher till you get to a point that may be too noisy then back down a bit.
If you have a new unit with the DST shielding you can get these settings pretty high, but even though on many detectors higher sense means deeper but it is not necessarily true on this one.
If you have corn stalks or other vegetation many use boost when they hover high over this stuff.

Basic settings are different for everyone.
Some go lower than start up levels, some higher.
Some use one tone mode exclusively or all metal, others change around or use several.

Once you learn what is possible you change them to suit your needs.
You could have 10 guys hunting your field with your machine and they all might be using different settings that could work well...for them.

Yep, pretty much...scroll through the program a time or two to familiarize yourself with the various settings...drop some farthings or ha'pence or shillings on the deck and swing over it to see if the tone makes sense to you...it takes a lot of dedication to success and then practice, but it all will click someday, the more dedicated to success and the more you practice, the faster you will learn...:beers:

If one is new to the F 75 it is highly recommended that it's best to start off for several hours of hunting in the factory pre set modes. And you are correct, if you haven't done anything with any of the settings, just turn the unit on and you are in the pre set modes. These are good all around settings for getting a good feel for what the F 75 is saying. Dig a lot of different readings and mixed tones for a while. Good luck, it's one heck of a machine. And feel free to ask questions. What type of hunting do you do? Prior experience and other detectors used are useful info to pass along in striving to answer your questions. HH jim tn

A few things you should do to get started with the F75. I would read through the manual, and learn how to go through the menu and make selections. Then I would find the section on how to do a factory rest of the detector. Until you kind know what your are doing I would suggest doing a factory reset after making a bunch of setting changes. We have had a lot of guys come on here with some kind of problem and want to know if their machine needs to go back for repairs. Just about every time a factory reset gets them going again. If you start setting notches that is about be the best way to screw up the machine, so that a factory reset is needed. So I would not do any notching until you understand the machine better.

Next I would learn to do the Ground balance and after you get the hang of that you could start doing a little hunting.

Sounds like you will be hunting coins in fields. So I would suggest doing a ground balance at the site and only change a few of the factory settings. Like I think the coins may be pretty deep in a field so I would select the BP (boost processor) and then either 3 or 4 tones, as for disc setting it could be anywhere but for somebody starting out I would suggest max or back off just below zinc pennies. You should be do so pretty good coin detecting with that setup.

Now others may not see it the same as me but I think what I am telling you would do you a pretty good job.

Good Luck,

I think that WV62 hit it on the head with one exception that being if you are from the UK? the disc setting he recommend may be a little to high.

If you are hunting in Europe I suggest you join Garys Detecting Forum. Lots of ggod guys and info there.

Your forum name leads me to believe that you are across the water from us.

I agree I have heard that some of the old hammered silver coins can be rejected at a pretty low disc setting. So it you are from that area of the world I would try to find some sample coins that you may find and get some good ID numbers to watch for, or ask around on the forums to see if you can come up with a list of numbers to watch for and set that disc below the lowest number by at least 3 or 4 numbers, and see what turns up.

Thanks for the correction above, I was thinking US coins and fields when I posted late last night.

I have had a F75Ltd since 2010 and I still pull the manual out from time to time and read sections of it, so read, hunt a little, go back and read some more. Something you read the first time may not ring a bell but after you have been out there detecting it will give you a light bulb moment. It is a forever learning thing.

Good luck and keep in touch,

I agree good advice detect read come home with questions if I don't have questions I am not paying attention, no one knows it all and so combined minds can be of value to us all to learn and then relearn it can't remember everything it's not possible !!

but most of all have fun out there :bouncy:

The most important thing to remember, regardless of what you may hear, you don't have to run maximum sensitivity to get deep coins. Pm sent

Hi guys, well I managed to assemble the machine today without any major difficulties although the manual is epic and will need some time to figure out everything.anyways the machine looks and feels really cool and light although I doubt very much it's indestructible but I guess that's just a case of looking after it. I managed to do a automatic ground balance witch give me a reading of 47 on my lawn after pumping the machine up and down and the trigger forward as the manual States and started doing some hunting on factory settings. I was only out in the garden for approx 5 mins to get a feel for the machine before my first outing tomorrow and I can say I tested it with a few different coins just to see the different readings, and although the machine has a lot of sensitivity when moving I think that's just the sensitivity setting that needs tweaking? Well looking forward to tomorrow and I will report bk with my finds. Thanks again for everybody's help.
