Fa mode

I'm starting to get the hang of the Fa mode. It requires a little slower sweep speed or you'll miss targets,at least with the small coil. I was using dp audio and noticed there was a slight differenc in pitch between the square tab and a nickel. Of course both of them in the ground might sound the same. I'm really starting to like the F75. I already found a few things in my yard that I lost a couple years ago plus coins mixed right in with the junk. Even found an 1903 IH in very good condition. I thought I scanned every inch of my yard in the 10 years I've been here. My rock driveway is hard as concrete and I'm getting good lock on signals but can't dig. I can't wait to try the F75 with my small coil in the parks and the woods! I almost bought the T2 but I'm glad I got The F75!

Gratz on the new detector! Sounds like it's starting to work out for you. I will always have an F 75 in my detector arsenal.

I think if you test the FA processor you will find that you will get less depth with a slower sweep speed. So as fast as you can swing without over running your target.

At least that is what I have tested and found to be true.

For hunting in trashy areas FA can be an advantage. Netted me a few Merc's and Wheats this summer in an old yard I had hunted 3 x prior with other detectors and methods.

Seems when I use FA I need any Audio that includes High Tone/low tone. I like DP and 3H
No matter the sweep speed any hint of a higher tone get focused on with shorter quick sweeps. What I am saying it is not always a strong solid High tone. Surprisingly with shorter sweeps you can confirm that there is a high conductor there. The FA zeros it in and you know where to pin point or dig.
I think that zero's in on a masked target with high number that was averaged out to a mid tone and ignored, using other slower processes like DE.
Width of coil can affect this to. Less width the better I think. I use the 10x5 Fisher DD. That is my favorite Go to Coil. I have not tested the 5" round this year using FA. It should work to but you might loose an inch of depth.

Like WV62 said, The FA is not as deep as other processes and I also see it is more susceptible to EMI if close to wired buildings, Thinking WiFi signals the cause. An Example are school buildings. Wired for WiFi.

So technically the F75 has a few programs one can use that can be effective. Anywhere you discovered good targets with the large coil in DE deserves an new hunt with the smaller coils and other processes like FA or DP.
