Fading signal??

Lightstryder

New member
I just got a Sea Hunter and have been noticing sometimes when I am trying to pinpoint a target, the signal seems to fade away as my "wiggle" gets narrower. Now I am a VLF convert so I am not used to PI yet. Is this a normal phenomenon? It only seems to happen on some targets, and I haven't quite figured out yet what determines that. Any help is appreciated. I love my Sea Hunter so far.

most likely junk or target is in side of the hole, try digging from another angle if it fades after started digging.

Thanks amberjack, yeah I should have just waited a couple of days before asking that, I figured it out after trial and error that they are junk signals. Although I have dug coins and had a very hard time scanning them on the surface in my tailings. Just PI quirks I guess.
I love my Sea Hunter though, have a few more hunts with it under my belt and am really enjoying it, even with all the digging :pulltab:

sounds about right to me Lightstryder when i use the scoop in wet sand sometimes the coin can get lost after the thing is out of the hole so it all sounds normal to me just have the kick the round chunk of sand it will show itself hey.
its those deep wispers that are constant that get me excited sometimes to no aval but i have dig hug holes 8, 9, 10 scoops hole starts to get scary yesterday it was a runner off a fishing rod bummer!! the day before a ring so it pays to keep diggin and having said all that i have given up sometimes its quite amazing how deep the pluse machines will go.

some days it feels like the thing is super charged or something its scary how deep they go, wouldn't go to a beach without one now! might do a bit more work than others but get more goodies too!!

have fun out there there are nice finds if we keep diggin :clapping:

I have the sea hunter Mark II also and it goes very deep. Those coins will sound clear and crisp as compared to foil or iron, but I usually dig it all even the double beeps. I have sometimes find an earring giving me a double beep, but most of the time a bobby pin. The closer to the beach the more junk to dig. If I dig a target and then lose it in the scoop I also kick the sand around to find the target. The fun with the SH is that you never know for sure what is there ! But .. sometimes I wish there was some way to know before the 9 scoop attempts. I hunt 99% in standard mode discriminate set at about 3 and slight whisper on threshold.
Good hunting.. EZ

i found a gold ring in with a bobby pin double beepin all the disc guys missed so i think your right EasySwing pays to dig everything just in case. :detecting:

staples who knows we where the come from on the beach fall through the scoop holes back into the big black hole u just dug i have a rare magnet glued to my scoop it stops them but not all the time .enjoy the work out kg111
