Falling apart! Lost my FPoint today! :veryangry:

Went out early this am..took the F70 out on the beach, found some clad laying on the surface where the wind blew off the top, the scoop was of no help as the sand was frozen like concrete! Had to pass on some decent deeper targets. Went in the water, neoprene waders are leaking, probably poked a hole in them when I fell through that beaver lodge in January. Went and checked some schools, totlots frozen and covered in ice! started hunting on the South sides of the school entrances, Yes! The ground was semi stabbable! Got a couple of bucks in clad. I did not use my gear pouch like normal, since the thawed areas are small and right up tight to the building. I would jump out of the vehicle, and put my Fisher Fpoint in my side jacket pocket, grab the screwdriver, and hunt, putting the finds in the other side pocket...went to another school, got a goofy chain type signal, but...NO FPoint! It must have fallen out at the last place I was at! I drove back there but I could not find it! I looked around inside my vehicle, but its not there either! So now I'm home, with no FPoint, a few bucks of clad, and a soaked and frozen foot...it was good to get in the dirt again though, and the F70 is still hungry and hot after 3 years of continuous use in all sorts of weather, so that's good I guess...hope you all had a better day than I did!

Nope on the Garrett ProPoint! ...I really liked that damned FPoint! I know I'm one of the only one that does! Its a cladstabbers/jewelry hunters dream tool! You can insert that thin prod into a screwdriver sized hole and locate the target without digging! You can ream it around under the sod to find a chain signal in the grass roots, you will find silver and gold rings that hit like dimes or nickles...when a fellow cant seem to hit the target with the screwdriver, you know its NOT a coin, and that's where this tool came in handy! Plus, it looks menacing like some sort of stun gun, buzzes like a yellowjacket, and can be deployed to discourage un wanted advancements of rogue tosspots, reprobates and hooligans intent on making a target out of me!..(sigh)...maybe I'll run a contest, the winner gets to send me their FPoint, and I'll mail them a few silver Q's or something...? I just feel lost without it...:sadwalk:

That is a shame. I assume they are no longer made???? Other wise, my man, you dug enough clad alone l y to buy a new one and a back up and still have gas money left. Hope it shows up. HH jim tn

Mud, I laid down my Pro Pointer in a 2 acre bush hogged field and walked off and left it looking for another target. I searched for around 20 minutes or so before finding it. I really lucked out finding it, because of the thick high grass and its black color was hard to see.

It's hard to walk off and leave it now with all the bright florescence tape and even if I do, it will be easy to find. I also brighten up my Lesche digger.

Jeeez that hurts doesn't it. I lost a Garrett last summer...

You know I was teasing above I hope.. Check some dealers or Fisher direct..

Here's a product that I heard about in a YouTube video.

Plasti Dip. You dip your pin pointer tip in it to protect it from wearing out, and it comes in red and yellow, so that can make it more visible, too.

Here's an idea I came up with to keep from losing those precious pointers!

1) I'm thinking of getting a retractable lanyard and some sort of clamp for attaching the ring to the pointer.

I was thinking you could go to an automotive store to find a nylon hose clamp (not metal). Then take some of the Plasti Dip to put a good foundation around where the clamp will go, that way there is no damage to the pointer, and it will give the clamp something to "grip". Once the lanyard is attached to the clamp, then slip the clamp on to the pointer to the position that you want it on the handle, then tighten the clamp down. Once you have the clamp in place, then take some more of the Plasti Dip and cover the edges of the clamp to help hold it in place, just in case the screw loosens.

The lanyard attaches to a belt with a climbers D clamp, so it's easy on, easy off. The 48" lanyard should be plenty of "rope" so that it isn't tugging on you when you use it, and then you'll never lose it again!

Once I buy everything, I'll make an attempt at my first YouTube video. LOL

Ok had the same problem left mine at a hole and walked away took about an hour but i guess when it sit awhile and is on it rings out. But I bought this SS collar that goes under the cap and it come on a retractable lanyard, won't lose it any more, best $15.00 dollars I spent lately.

SHOOTER, you are the man!!! I was looking all over for something like that and couldn't find it, that's why I was coming up with all that goofiness up above! (I still like my idea about the Plasti Dip on the end of the Pointer, as I've heard the plastic wears out after awhile)
I'm going to be buying that ring and getting that lanyard!

Thanks for the link, Shooter!!!

Oh, and the rest of you Fisher jokers with the colored tape, Garrett Propoints, lanyards and advice ought to be ashamed of yourselves! This guy don't even swing a Fisher, and he helps a brother out!

Not for nothing but what do those comments mean?

Hey Shooter, just busting the chops of everyone who ranks on the Fpoint! In good humor of course. I bet you each have a drawer full of them!

Always use what works for ya.Mud I still have my fpointer no disrespect but it was terrible.I love my propointer. There is no doubt what you are doing is working for you.Like I always say on the water keep a tight line....hh rick in mi.

I laid down my 2 week old Garrett about a week ago, after checking a hole on a trail I was hunting. Got back to the van, went to put my stuff away.... lo and behold, an empty Pro Pointer holster. *Crap* so I jog my fat behind 1/3 mile down the road, still sporting kneepads, to the trail I was on, and there it was, "Hey, Dummie, didja forget sumthin'?" So far now I put my hand on it after every dig. Now I know how someone could loose a pointer, and I hope it sticks with me!

Hope ya still find it Mud! :sadwalk:
