False signals on high grass?

Can we talk this issue?.Some tesoro detectors seem to be more sensitive to high grass, sticks, woods debris etc...I noticed the outlaw with more falseing while relic hunting wooded areas.I know some detectors are more prone to this over the years of detecting.Wet high grass etc..is well know to cause falseing on a vlf detector. Can i get some thoughts on this.I am now thinking to just take the golden on a relic hunt because it runs so smooth.I can hear the different alloys in the ground. It really has great depth on silver.A sweet high tone on silver and copper. And running so smooth like the silver,i think i am going to try this?.This detector holds a perfect threshold while lowering the coil to the ground.Something is telling me to do this? The tejon is so heavy i need to go light next? :nerd:

Its not just Tesoros that do that. Falsing on high grass or bumping a stick or something. Seems the higher the sens is set, the more this is an issue, at least thats what I've experienced with two differrent mfgs machines, and thats sort of a bummer and makes for a tough hunt, some people use the little coils so they can sort of snake it into those woods and grass better than a large coil. Yeah, you take what works in those situations.

Thanks for the info.I checked all my detectors by simply using my hand and the golden is sweet!not much sensitivity like the outlaw. And better than the tejon.I got the golden rigged with the 10.5 widescan and going with that.I get plenty depth i feel.I love the tones!.I air tested some relics and i love the sounds.I just got my money maker figured out! Thanks again for the useful info mudpuppy!

I had a Bounty Hunter that would beep high tone every time you hit anything ( stick, rock ect.). My Vaquero seems to not do this as bad, and It also runs quiet and smooth is high wet grass. Maybe you could turn the ground balance a little more pos. Michael

My musky did that in wet grass, Did you know grass has a lot of salt in it ? it does if you burn a bail of hay and soak the ashes in water it will pickle your hand its so castic, the ash has 25% pottasium salt in it so could it be it is like detecting on a salt water beach - my bliss will false if i bump somthing but its not really a problem and i have yet to try the outlaw in whet grass

I know mike. This is one of the V's strong points.Running quiet in the woods with no falseing. The tejon will be ok until i find out more about hunting with the outlaw.I have decided to take the tejon if i make a relic hunt.I will keep my ears peeled for more info on this. The tejon runs smooth in the weeds like the v so i am happy! O:)

I've found a response to fairly solid taps on the coil to be common among the detectors I'm familiar with. A floppy wrap of the coil wire or a loose connection in side can cause this, but I've never had the problem to a degree that I would consider serious. Strangely, I have one 7" concentric coil that falses over wood chips in tot lots if lightly rubbed over the chips. For whatever reason, this is with just one detector and neither the coil, nor the detector do it with other combinations.
