farmfield detecting......

Eric

New member
Had a short 2 hour detecting session on a farmfield with 5 of us. Coin total was 25 coins, piece of an old clothhanger and several interesting items.
I found 4 coins, few buttons, musketballs, bullet. Coins on picture have to be cleaned but one can expect they are in the 1700-1850 date range. Nothing special of quality this time. Most important though is..... to get out and enjoy a fantastic hobby.
The guy with the ace 250 is Bob. He started last week with the hobby and at least he found a few coins. I hate to see that new people get discouraged by the lack of finds.

Thanks for looking, Eric.

The Netherlands.

Eric,
Nice pic's! I am soooo jealous! I want to get out so bad! What state are you in? I loved the pic's and your finds. It is posts like this that keep the spirits of the rest of us that can't get out, up. Keep it up!:usaa::buds:

Thanks oakman....

I am in Holland, Europe. Our type of the detecting is more on the relic hunting side. The finds were not special today but fun.

Eric.

Bob sure don't look discouraged one bit - quite a happy look into a new hobby. What's nice is Bob ain't out on his own to start which can become discouraging for some entering the hobby. Add a few old coins and relic in the mix along with a few friends = wonderful hobby.

Nice to be able to get together with fellow detectorist.:twodetecting::detecting:.
You might get lucky and find some Roman coins or other old relics in that field.

Eric,
Nice pictures. Next time I will join again. We had a great morning spending time at this fun hobby at this fine location. Unfortunately no major finds but still a good hunt. I'm happy Bob did find some coins, so that will keep the good spirit alive.

man Eric that looks like a great hunt i"d love to be out there hunting with ya :thumbup:just thinking of finding 1000 year old stuff makes me dribble.

And I wish I was there with you... I could use some nice temperatures:lol:

Thanks for looking.

Eric.

Hi Eric, nice pics! I really enjoyed a wonderful sundaymorning with the guys at this nice location (little too short though haha...)
But with springtime ahead, I'm sure there'll be plenty of more searching adventures to come!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge (and your patience)

Can be rewarding but also can be the hardest to do. Down in alabama we hunted in areas(only 150 years old or so) where the ground was highly mineralized because of fertlizer and wreaked havoc with the machines. I tried a minelab there once and could not get it to work well. Everytime you moved the coil even at 0 disc it would null. Bad ,Bad,ground add lot's o iron and it gets even tougher! Alot of good finds can be had by eyeballing- gunflints, marbles, arrowheads, I even found an amythest stone from a ring, no ring darn it! Look forward to seeing more finds from yall!

Yeah you guys have some great stuff to hunt for over there. Waiting for you to post some pics of something special that we could only dream f finding.

Bill

Bill, and we still have very special items and coins in our soil, just waiting that we dig them up. But I have to say that it does not matter if the finds are old or more recent. When I was out detecting the woods and came out with more modern stuff, I was very content with that.

Although.... when I found a beautiful Roman in that forest, [2 inches max] I was verrrrrry happy.

Thanks for looking,

Eric.
