Alrighty all you dudes and dudettes, just got back from Longboat Key on Fla's gulf coast. Not a particularly productive raid but perhaps I reach the "respectable" bar. Disclaimer FIRST! You can ask all the Fla. Pirates, westerly wind ALL week has had the Atlantic like a lake and the gulf completely roiled!! Sat. last we embarked for LBK and I was really looking forward to sacking Coquina, Siesta, Holmes and Bradenton Beaches. My first attack centered on Coquina and I wasn't disappointed what with uncovering both the "Half Moon Man" .925 and the 14K gals ring same day. Hit Coquina again next day but nothing equaling first day's take. Next I sets me sights upon Holmes Bch. and sets sail for conquest but comes up dry 'cept for clad and plenty of can slaw. Ok right here we gotta confess that the next day Tuesday was spent in pursuit of the little white ball at a Muni in Sarasota and we enjoyed our round expansively. Uh, IN A BIG WAY is what I mean.
Next, Siesta Bch, where I found my FIRST gold ring in the water EVER with my Garrett XL500 PI.
No disappointment here as I immediately scoop up a .925 toe ring reading "Love" How can ya go wrong with "Love"? I continues digging copious can slaw, clad and then in my scoop appears this .925 band! Cool! Not gold but success nonetheless!! A little later I uncover this earring with El Huge O stone which I (know I know) has to be a CZ but I can HOPE!!! PLEEEEZZZZZZZZZEEEEEE!!!!!!! I decides right then that a return trip is in order so Friday BRIGHT 'N EARLY I descends upon Siesta Bch. once again! Now this day (last day) is not so good as most of the easy pickins are plucked yesterday. Oh yeah, I might mention that there were 3 other detectors operating when I arrived FIRST day and 4 on the next. First day all were dry-sanders but next day I see two waders like myself. Any road, I plugs away and plugs away coming up with next to squat when this big tall drink of water invades my space asking a bunch of questions as I am trying to scoop up the carrabiner w/keys. I miss it somehow and his foot hits it and he picks it up of course talking about finding it w/out a detector. Ok 1 for you dude. As he finishes his questions and departs I get another signal about a foot from the one where I expect the carabiner/keys were and up comes the gold Virgin Mary necklace. BINGO! Gold again. No real weight involved here but gold just the same and I am inwardly doing the Happy Dance!!!!!! The pic of the nut may show another earring (junk) and a Star (junk also) along with a keychain w/about 5 "Coach" charms along with the carabiner/key ring. The clad comes to about $7, I'm not disappointed. I thought as usual that there'd be bigger tickets but what the hell. A Week at the beach!! How do ya beat that????????
