Father's Day hunt started out good...then

Diggin-it

New member
Decided to go try my luck at a swim hole a buddy told me about this morning. 45 minutes into the hunt I had found 52 cents in clad, a fake ring, and a nice .925 heart pendant. Then I dig up a sinker, and completely miss the hook on it and end up with it stuck in my finger. I pull it out and bleed it out for a minute, then I can see it left behind some of that nasty black crude that attaches itself to metal in inland lakes. Hunt is over....got to go try and clean it out. Got home and dug the heck out of my finger but could not get it all out. Cleaned it up and put some drawing salve on it..will have to watch it for infection. Had a tetnis shot within the last 5-7 years so should be fine there. This evening I decided to hit the local beach...do some dry sand hunting. Pulled $3.81 in clad, a few odds and ends and a working iPhone 4. Got to clean all the sand out of the ports and charge it to get an owners name and get it returned. If it wasn't for the sore finger it would have been a great Father's Day.

OUCH ! well i guess at least some little kid didnt have to get stuck by that hook....sorry that you did.... just never know what nasty stuff lies below....happy huntig....

Now if they could just make a lure that did not need a hook

Got the phone back to the owner. The drawing salve pulled the nasty crude out of the wound after 2 days...amazing stuff! And ended up having to get a tetanus shot after all....I was 9 years out from last one and Dr highly recommended it. The finger is all healed up and ready to return to that swim area and finish hunting it. Stopping at a dive shop on the way home today to check out gloves!!
