Faulty Infinium???

Hi,
I bought an Infinium in Dec 2011 & have only used it for about 20 hrs. This is because I live 400kms from the beach & I have other detectors for inland use.
Back to the point at hand - I have recently noticed that when I turn the detector on, I get the 4 battery beeps OK. Sometimes when I turn the GB knob into the fast GB position, the machine shuts down. It has happened about a dozen times recently. I also noticed that the discrimination setup when you start the machine, runs perfectly quiet when you try to check for interference. How do know when any interference is present when the machine makes no noise when in the interference mode?

The infinium turns off? That has never happened to me. To see if there is EMI around, turn on your Pro Pointer. You can actually get a defferent operating frequency when tuning it with the Prp Pointer turned on and also if hunting with a buddt, having his detector turned on in close proximity. You might want to ask the same question on the Infinium forum, as there are lots of Infinium users there.

Hope you get it figured out and contact Garrett if need be. The Infinium finds quite a bit of coins and jewelry and even caches on land according to the last catalog I got when I bought the At/Pro last year. So, you might want to try it along with your other land detectors and it might just surprise you with some deep targets. GL & HH.
