Found this coin in salt water in low tide mud.

That sure is a nice find ! Have you dug any other big silver ones ? In 27 years I have dug only one - 1879 Morgan. Steve in so az

Yes, Steve..I have; I have also recovered an 1895 half dollar ; but I have never found a "Morgan"...I'd love to find one of those.

I find a lot of "mercs"; "roosies", and walking liberties, "buffalos" and I have also found a couple of "V" nickels, and one standing liberty ( date illegible...and can't tell if it is Variety 1 or Variety 2 ) it's that salt water....I 'm a beach /sand detectorist...so that's the consequence I have to pay.

Here's my 1 claim to fame - Morgan dollar dug at an old mining camp. While I have dug nineteen 100% silver half dollars, I have not dug a Barber or earlier like you. We just dont have the history here in Az.

hope I can find at least one as well.

It's not really "easy digging" if you're in the wash and the wet sand. That wet sand is really heavy. If you work a water machine it's a totally different animal (that's too much work gettin' pounded by waves) However, working the dry sand is sure easy enough. During the summer, all of the finds are basically shallow. You HAVE to come here one summer :)

Yes Joe, it is...
I talk to a lot of the "old timers" who stroll this beach and they tell me about its history; several of the town's "seniors" tell me that the area has been inhabited since the late 1600's. I find many antique articles in the ocean also...like ornate gas lamp connections, children's lead toy soldiers ( WW1 attire)
They tell me about how floods from long ago washed out cottages right into the ocean!! Very interesting area.

Oh, boy!!!! I'd love to find one of those....that is in superb condition!!! Congratulations !!!

Here's where I hunt many times. Anyone own a backhoe that they would let me borrow? :lmfao:

One of my favorite coin finds included Barber halves too! :)
