Glen: If all that has been said about harmonics, would not all so called single frequency detectors because of the harmonics be considered multi frequency detectors?
 
Jack,

I am assuming that you are referring to the distortion in the sinusoidal signal that drives the transmitting coil. I believe that one of Minelab's claim to fame with the Xterra series is the so called "Vflex" technology (I think that is what they call it.). I also believe that they have made an attempt to reduce the harmonic distortion to make for more accurate analysis of the receiver coil signal.

Hi Glenn, I am glad this subject of FBS was brought up. Trent many thanks for the link to the patent. I figured that the Explorer had to be working in the time domain with such a broad frequency range. Thanks again fellows.
