The last two nights me and my "Eagle eye" wife went hunting. For Morels that is. She found 90% of them because the Propointer will not make a sound on them. Some of you know just how good these mushrooms are. Some may have never seen them.
Also the Propointer simply has some yellow tape over the speaker. I cut teeth on the other side of the Predator. Now it cuts the sod great from either side.

Ah yes! Morels......the champagne of mushrooms! That's a great job you did on those extra set of teeth. I see a lot of reasons for doing that too :thumbup:

Now I think I'll just go and order a pizza with Morels...oops, I mean mushrooms and pepperonis!
 
Thanks John. I used a chainsaw file to cut those teeth. I marked across from the existing teeth and started filing. Only took about 10 minutes. I cut from right to left so the blade dulled real fast. Now I simply saw through the sod if I need to make a flap. We have had a pretty good season for morels. We've had two messes and hope to have many more. Take care.
 
gotta love those morels. looked for some the other day and did not find one. i will keep looking and maybe, just maybe.

Out of all those you see I found 5. I stood 12 inches from a giant one today. I had been standing there looking around. I didn't see it and my wife nabbed it. Keep looking because there out there. Here in mid Missouri they were late this year. Most we've found had just came up. I think we have 2 more good weeks of hunting left. Now I'm going to catch some Crappie to go with them!
 
Love those rooms. Used to hunt those puppies when I lived in Illinois. Went out in the woods right after a rain and snatched those puppies up.

Love those crappie fried in butter. Haven't had any in years. Used to sit in a boat and jig for them and just throw them in the bottom of the boat until we had a big pile. One time my father-in-law and me were jigging out of the eight foot pram off my uncle's cabin cruiser. We were drifting this stream off the Illinois river where the trees arched over the stream and formed a tunnel. I was sitting on one end and my father-in-law on the other and we had a pile of crappy on the floor. All of a sudden a big, healthy, cottonmouth dropped out of the branches overhead with a big thump! and lit right on the pile of crappie. I looked at my father-in-law, he looked at me, and we both bailed off backwards into the water. The moccasin had the boat all to himself. Later we retrieved the pram after the cottonmouth got tired of it. They are sneaky like that.

Samething happend to me in alabama once, a buddy shot the floor of the boat to kill the snake......................duh!
 
Nothing like morels, I used to be able to go in my front lawn and ditch and get a pot full of morels in no time. I even trained my dog to sniff them out untill he started eating them. Alas the morels have vanished and I lost my dog to cancer, so all i have now is memories. The only problem with morel's is that the season is too short. HH Ken
 
I think they sell for $200 a pound? I guess I could use another detector! My wife found most of them and she ain't sharing. :rofl:
 
I'm lazy - let the wife hit the local Farmers Market and let her go with a granny cart. But when she throws rib-eyes on the BBQ grill - that perks me up.
I do like good rooms done right. But wife already started a bunch of tri-tip & shrimp Ka-Bobs on the grill. Some of them have rooms (different kind) among other goodies. No ProPointer needed for chow. Money, then spice it up with hunger.
 
I'm glad to see you finally post a photo of some finds. How about some silver coins next time?

Another good mod for the digging tool is to engrave marks at one inch intervals to assist in measuring the actual depth of an item.

Wild mushrooms are without a doubt one of my favorite foods. I'll trade you some nice fresh fish for a few.

I haven't posted any of my recent silver finds because I haven't found any! :rofl: My work has kept me from hunting the last 30 days. Now I manage one of my Son's baseball team and coach my other Son on another team. I don't have time to do much. I promise that I'll post my next silver. You may be waiting until fall though! My wife won't trade the Morels for fish. She's got fish in the freezer...

I had a nice surprise at work and was given three nice striped bass filets this afternoon. Very fresh and very tasty if you've never tried it and probably would go well with the morels.

Never had a Striped Bass. I've had Largemouth Bass, Rock Bass and heck I've even played a Bass drum! :rofl:
