Ferrous Item preservation

I recently decided to try and preserve some of my ferrous items. First time doing electrolysis and I like the outcome of items I've done so far. I'm looking for a simple way to preserve them after cleaned up, I've seen where some has dipped in hot paraffin but surely there is something I could spray, brush or dip to do the job and last. Any suggestions are welcome. Here is a hatchet head and in background is part of a muzzle loader barrel that I've cleaned up. The gun barrel is not too photogenic.

The key to keeping ferrous items from re-rusting is to block out moisture and oxygen. I've found a few old tools that I've used Eastwood's Rust Convertor or Encapsulator spray. On some of the more common items, I do nothing more than apply a light coat of WD-40 Long Term Corrosion Inhibitor every couple years. Just depends on whether I want to preserve a color or leave them "natural". JMHO HH Randy

after electrolysis I let it dry good while applying heat with a heat gun to make sure all moisture is out, I'm looking to mount the hatchet head stuck in a block of wood for display. I'll try some spray plastic out of a rattle can on it. I'll post the end result. The muzzle loader barrel is cool, I'm trying to figure out how to display it.
