We hit a spot Sunday that we hunt from time to time about an hours drive from home. It is a lot that gets plowed occasionally for weed control. I have previously found Buffalo's, a V nickle, and a few Indians there but, it is tough hunting with lots of iron and junk. I have been skunked there several times and a good day is finding one keeper. This place has also been hunted heavily by other detectorists. It just always looks so good after being tilled that it is impossible to pass up. The other draw is that it is rare to find a newer date coin here.
I was hunting between the plowed rows with the 6" 18.75 coil, sens. at 27, tracking on, and going painfully slow in all metal when I heard a silver tone that I had never heard before at this location. I kicked away about 4" of dirt to make the ground level and crossed the target again. Solid TID of 40 in all directions, depth indicating 4". I couldn't help but just staring at the spot for a minute before I dug. It was one of those times where you just know what's under the coil before you dig and I knew that I was going to finally dig a silver dime here and was really hoping for a barber but thinking a Mercury would be awesome also...
Finally got my seated. These are my favorite of all coins and I had never found one. Thanks for reading!
