After a couple years swinging the 505, I finally got the 10". One thing I noticed when I put a quarter in the grass is that you get a tone when the outer ring and the center of the coil passes over the quarter. So with one swing, I get three tones. Does this sound right?, or will it be different with a buried target?

Finally got a 10" DD, one question.

Many larger targets can produce a double or triple beep when close to the coil. With your quarter in the grass, try lifting your coil a few inches when you sweep over it, making it as if the coin were not laying on the surface. It should now be a single beep, coming from the center of the coil. Another option would be to lower your Sensitivity. Either should work. Personally, I prefer to keep my Sensitivity as high as I can, while maintaining stability. If I get a double or triple beep, I lift the coil several inches in the air and sweep back over it. If the double or triple beep turns into a single beep with the coil raised a few inches, and the TID looks like something I'd be interested in, I'll be digging it. JMHO HH Randy
Thanks Digger. I was able to get it out for a couple hours today. Went to a yard I thought I exhausted of all clad. Didn't want to too much digging since the ground is so dry here the grass is shure to dye. I did pull about seven pennies. Have to wait for some fall rain and go back.
I was able to get a good first impression of the coil tho. The pinpointing is deadly accurate. Good target separation also. It did seem a little more sensitive to interference as I had to switch channels a couple times to get rid of some chatter. Normally at that location I don't have a problem. I look forward to hitting other hot spots with it for sure.
