Finally got a mild day. More snow tonight but today is

up to 38 right now, but down to zero tonight, so what ever thaws will be hard again by morning. Been trying to get the ice off the driveway but not much luck with it yet. Should be able to push off a little slush tonight before dark. Cleaned off the barn roof a few days ago as this stuff is heavy wet snow. A big cow barn up the road went down also. He lost some cows from all the weight. Not good for him for sure. Looking long range, I see some more temps above freezing for the first of next week, so maybe we are out of this storms every 3 days routine. Had a few more pictures I took so put them up here. There is a hard crust on the snow so the turkeys are running across it as are the coyotes. Not so good for the deer.

we had a situation like that here in Jan 96. A full 5 ft of wet snow over 3 days. I shoveled our roof twice and we survived but many folks had theirs collapse along with many barns and pole buildings.
Those pics make my teeth sweat!

I have one spot on the barn I could not get at to well on the back side.... Hope that holds. My concern is when it slides off that and loads the lower roof. Should be ok, but one never knows.... Saw a report yesterday that 156 horse and cow barns have gone down in the last 2 weeks. I bet they redo the building codes for snow loads now. That will cost some serious money to a lot of folks. I know right now here there are a lot of horse people looking for places to put their horses from all the closed ones. Along the coast there will be openings, but its and hour away and a lot more money down that way to board them. Up this way, $375 up to $500...Down on the coast, $500 up.... As soon as this one stops today I will be out plowing it back. They are showing 3 days of 0 degrees at night to low 20's in day..... Then it looks like a warm up to upper 30's and even a day of low 40's....Hope that is the turn around point but March here can be a real wet snow month... Funny, I have one moveable horse barn stall for 2 horses I build 30 years ago when we first came up here. I made a I beam bottom frame I could drag around with the tractor and wood frame and metal roof on the rest... Its loaded with snow and still standing.... Why is beyond me, as its loaded big time.. Horse like it in the summer and I drag it down to a shaded area for them...Just gives them a new hang out.... If I was really concerned about it I'm sure it would be flat on the ground with the rest of them.......
