I can't remember how many years it's been since I plucked 6 silver in one afternoon because those days ended a long time ago. Well I figured this would be my last opportunity for a while to get a full hunt in. 9 out of 10 times my hunts are rushed and usually last 2 hours or so. This time I was able to get a nice 5 hours in before the drizzle started. From here on out the weather will be colder and nastier and my work hours increase through the winter months anyway...so this was probably my last long hunt until after winter. I may squeeze an hour or 2 in a few more times...but not much more.
Well guess where I hunted again.....that's right the same "hunted out" park I've been REworking with the 6" excelerator and the 1050 coil the last couple of months.
As usual I wasn't disappointed because my very first target was a merc at 8"...and that was within the first 10 minutes. Then the wheaties started coming. I hit a section of the park that I haven't spent a whole lot of time at this year because of time constraints. Yes I've hit it 100's of times in the last 30 years but not with the machine and combo of coils I have now. It was just a great afternoon because I never get a 5 hour hunt in and I made the most of it before it got dark. In between the wheaties I plucked out 2 more 1800's injuns which makes 12 out of there the last 4 hunts. Then some more silver and some more wheaties...then it started to drizzle and started getting dark.
The take for the day was four mercs...1927...1929...1940s and 1943d...two rooseys...1953 and 1961...two 1800's injuns...1890 and 1893... 24 wheaties...and two pocketfulls of deep broken screw top bottles! I emptied my pocket once then refilled it again so you are only seeing 1/2 of the crap that came with the goodies. That's going to happen if you want those deep injuns. I'm already looking forward to next year just because I know my machine so much better than I did a year ago. You never stop learning any machine but I now feeI am making some progress.
Thanks for viewing and good luck hunting.
