Finally Know what you're talking about Bryce

On Saturday, went to an old old park with a friend that I have never been to. He hunts with a fisher and I brought the trusty Explorer 2. Started down a slope where some old concrete benches lay, the land sloped all the way down to the street with a BARRAGE of pop can lid low tones everywhere. That makes a guy really have to slow down just to hear ANYTHING that might be good down there. Cruising along, the first target was a memorial at about 3 inches. Then I got a peeper that I stopped to investigate. When I was moving the SEF coil N - S, it was a faint high pitched warble that was "iffy" at best. The cursor was riding across the top of the screen and I had to literally "push" the coil onto the ground while sweeping to get this thing to hit right. I moved E - W (90 degrees) and was able to make it "squeak" a few times. All I could think about while listening to the signal was " Is THIS the sounds and warbles that Bryce and others are talking about in their posts on deep silver ???" I decided to go on and dig it mostly out of curiosity. I cut the plug which usually pulls 4-6 inches of earth with it. I flipped the X-1 on and stuck it in the hole. I thanked the lord that the X-1 sang in the hole! I bet I dug down to 8 -10 inches and as I brought that dirt out, out came a beautiful 1936 Merc. I yelled "HI HO" across the park to my buddy and he came running to see. You guys write this stuff for everyone to read and I know we readers can't thank you enough for that! Reading about it is one thing, but until you actually go out and "experience" those sounds, it's very difficult really know what everyone is talking about. Anyway, thanks guys for all your posts!

Silver for EVERYONE!

That's a lesson that will pay dividends many times over Duane............

Oh Oh! Watch out silver coins!! Once you've heard what to listen for there is no stopping you now :twodetecting: Congratulations!!!!!!

put into words...but I do it as best as I can.

No way you actually know what that sound is though...until you actually hear it...take a chance on it... .dig it...and silver pops out.:clapping:
Congrats buddy:thumbup:

Now of course you know...the next time you come accross that same high pitched warble...it will end up being crap:biggrin:
In fact...that might happen the next 4 or 5 times in a row:crylol:

Seriously though...I'm glad you heard what you heard...and dug what you dug. That's a PRICELESS learning experience.

I am getting there too. Just 3 days ago I finally got what I thought was one of the sounds described. I wasn't sure because I usually pass on these signals but dug this one. It ended up deing a wheat back cent at almost 8" deep. Now I know what some of these sounds are and it was a good experience for me. I need to say thank you too. The way you describe what you hear in your posts has helped me out more than you know.
