FINALLY SOME DEEPIES

New member
Finally figured out some deep signals Thanks to Andys Book and This forum Thanks Things from 3 short hunts this week

Good looking silver. Sure is a very nice Barber dime. Don't find many that looks this good. Well done.

Thanks Ron I was shocked when it came out of the ground. Those are my first 2 barbies.I do have a seated i found last year with a Bounty Hunter

Congrats on a gorgeous Barber Dime!:super: That's the way to find them! You are doing great so far and hope the luck continues for you. Good Luck and HH to you and can't wait to see what else you uncover.

That is a great feeling to go out onto a hunted out park or field and knowing you have an edge now with the deep stuff very one else has gone over.

You mentioned in a prior post that you found 1897, 1903, and 1919 nickels which must have been at least as deep as these coins, no? I think old nickels are harder to find than silver.....I wouldn't soak 'em - put 'em in ketchup for a few days

Great finds - Congrats!!!:detecting:

Thanks Eric for the question The nickels were not as deep but when I get a nickel signal it almost always comes in pretty clear. The 1897 was about 7 inches down Those 2 barbers were at least 10 inches down. The shallowest Merc was 7 or 8 inches down. I dig a lot of tabs when digging for nickels but i really like them.I was digging a lot of deep nails until I read Bryces post about watching the cursor on pinpoint, if it goes back to the black keep going. Imdigging a lot less nails now. As for the ketchup, Ill give it a try Thanks for the tip HH

No problem Stubbs, I think you'll like the ketchup trick on the nickels, just change the ketchup out when it turns brown, it'll take a few days, but does a very thorough job on nickels. Looks like you're doing real well with the finds for a newbie...and thanks for the info on the finds. How'd you like that Bounty Hunter that you were using? Very nice work on those finds!

Thanks everybody for your comments. Ireally enjoy your replys. As for the Bounty Hunter goes,I bought it when I retired, and I really enjoyed it. When I pulled out my only seated dime I was hooked for life. The dime is a 1874S,also found a 1835 half dime with it. But a friend, showed me his collection and it was awesome. He has an Expl 2 Thats all I needed to see I ordered one the next day. I dug more trash with the BH. But now that Im starting to learn my SE Im enjoying it a lot more. Thanks and HH everyone

Thanks Stubbs - continued success with the SE  Not sure if you've seen any of James N.D.'s posts, but he posts more silver coins than pretty much anyone on FindMall and he's still using his trusty old XS I believe :yikes:

Best Regards, Erik

Way to go Stubbs. Aint it fun when you finally "get it"? Keep up the great work.
