Finally Something to Post, little long but good

Bottom line is when people who know what they are doing with an Explorer and have been hunting in an area since the XS came out it is difficult to find anything at all. I live in such an area. They say no place is every hunted out but it hasn't produced a good coin in a year. I have the XS and bought the II this past Xmas along with the Platypus and X-Probe. My area is still devoid of good finds where I normally hunt. We took 2 wks. with the MH and went to our son's college graduation E. of the Mts. in Washington and I had a chance to detect and old area I was lucky in last year and did what I think is good for me. The following is a list of finds for the trip. 1872-H Canadian Quarter, 1895-s Barber Quarter, 3 Barber dimes, 03,06,08-s, 5 Indian Heads, 88, 00, 01,02,02, 14 Wheat's, 13-D,13-s 17, 17-s (3)18-s, 19-s (2)20-s 39-D 42-D,46,47-S, 1 V Nickel 07, 1 Japanese 1 Sen 1901, 1 Chinese Cash Coin,(1736-1795), 1 Good for 5cent Trade Token,at ATP Cigar Store Spokane Wa. Pocket Watch and Chains Fob, Miniature Padlock, Old Buckle with rusted Loop broke off, Change purse remnants with 00 Indian Head next to it. BS Neckerchief Slide, 2 Silver and 1 junk ring's,1 older transit token and 3 newer transit tokens, only 3 clad quarters, 32 clad dimes, 15 Jefferson nickels and 224 memorials. Numerous pull tabs bottle caps garbage and lots of sq. nails. All in all a good trip other than the MH broke down on the way home and had to use good SAM towing. All fixed and ready to go again. I think this area I found has only been hunted with brand X and not by Minelab. Sorry it's so long but hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for looking. I have 2 pictures of the area but need to downsize them and will post shortly.

jb, I enjoyed your post so much...
Boy haven't you un-covered some treasures!!!
I love that watch and fob ~ I love all of it, FANTASTIC...:super:

Very nice finds, you can be quite proud of you pocket full of goodies. Wish they were found my my machine. Keep up the good hunting technique.

You really nailed those oldies this time! WTG!!! Very nice assortment of finds. One heck of an outing and just imagine what else lies buried up on that Mountain. Hope you are able to go back and find more finds like these and Good Luck and HH.

Thanks for the nice comments on the watch. Actually it isn't an old one at all as I found another one similar several years ago and I recall them being sold at Costco Wholesale Stores. What happened was I had gotten a good coin signal and dug a couple of surface pennies and went over the area again and got another signal and found the end of the chain and followed it until it came loose from the grass. Pulled it loose from the grass and got another signal and it was the watch. Pays to recheck the area. 8 pennies one chain fob and the watch.

Bottom line is, if something is in the ground the Minelab will find it. Just a matter of the things being there and going over it for the signal. 400 mile one way trip but had a good time and finally got a few oldies.

Actually East of the Mts. is a figure of speech for Washingtonians and means visiting a city East of the Cascade Range and in this case it was Spokane Wa. just short of the Idaho border. The finds are the best since I found this area but was a real solid steady hunt, wife dropped me off at 9 and picked me up at 3 for a couple of days with a few bottles of water. I may not go here again but try another spot, see attached photo of sign at one I found over there.

Very nice collection there jb. You got my vote...........:) I haven't heard how any of the guys did at the Pilchuck hunt. I saved $75 by not going and came out ahead by staying close to and finding that ring. Nice pictures of the places over there also by the way. HH.

Not sure if any of our club members went to the Pilchuck Hunt or not. I know our annual out of town hunt was the 16th of June weekend so they probably didn't . I know they did good on the out of towner. Wish I could have went but had a great time in Spokane other than a few MH problems on the way home. Did you get the ring weighed and checked yet.

Not long at all. Fantastic finds!!! That's the kind of stuff that we all like to find.:biggrin:

I am a firm believer of finding new spots even if you have to drive quite a ways. Trouble is there are too many spots and not enough time to explore.

Yes no spot is ever totally hunted out but the real question is how much time do you have to put in to a spot to get a good coin?

Mirage

Thanks Mirage for the compliments on the finds. Your correct in how much time to put it. My old thinking was if there is one old coin I'm going for it. I still prefer to hunt an old site rather than a new site. Swinging the detector all day and very few targets is quite tiring to say the least. On the same token I get tired of digging clad all day long. If I can get out once or twice a year like this great if not I'll be satisfied doing what I've been doing all along. Next trip I am going to try another area and use this one as a backup.

Jb,
silver chains that I have dug sure look funny when they are tangled in grass roots when lifted up from the ground.
I sometimes think that they are lengths of silver foil!!!

Great hobby eh...

Very nice Finds there JB. You had yourself one of them Super Hunts. You got a bunch of real nice old coins and Such. Congrats and keep up the great Job. HH.

Not to often I get this lucky but did this time. Usually only get to go on a short trip and not always a chance to hunt something old. This area I found a couple of years ago and this is the 3rd. trip as we have a boy who lives there and we visit him a couple of times a year or he visits us. Thanks for looking and the nice compliments.

Problem with this one is that it is only plated but it's neat that it went with the watch anyway. The thrill of seeing something is always exhilarating to me, just can't wait for the next beep.
