Finally started the learning process with the SE

kickback

I've had a SE with a Pro coil for a year now.I used it some when I first got it and put it away again.Went back to detectors I knew better.I put it back together and started hunting with some of the settings out of Andy's book,James and Bryce's.Starting to get the "hang" of the tones.Dug one silver dime and a couple of Wheaties along with a pocketful of clad.I'm going to hunt with the SE for the rest of this season.Been researching old spots to hunt. Now I just need some days off work.Bill

just kidding, I like to go out in by back yard and just bury an indian head or a silver dime and just play with the controls on my e-trac. You can always learn something!:nerd:

Keep going Bill ! Quitters quit and learners get better. I bought my SE in 1/08 and used the stock slimline coil through "08. Andy's book and hints from Bryce and others really shortened my learning curve. I got a pro coil in 1/09 and have been using it since. Trial and error and being coachable have brought me a long way. There is no "magic setting" because there are variables in every situation. I've done very well since I got my SE but I'm just now starting to feel that I'm really understanding the machine and that I've found my "sweet spot" generally in settings.
Metal detectors are like exercise equipment for most people - they buy it with good intention; try it a few times, and if they don't see IMMEDIATE results they set the thing aside and never use it again or put it up for sale.
It's a great machine - get to know it and it will produce for you.

GOLDDIGGER by hunting with him a few times over the years. I also picked up some purty' good tips from another feller' named Mike Moutray.
I then incorporated some of their settings into my own personal preferences...and never looked back.
I can honestly say I learn something each and every time out...and that process never stops.

Like you said.....the fun begins now so keep on diggin'...and don't be afraid to experiment some to see which combo of settings works best for you.

Good luck and pm any time you need to.
