While doing a field in Maine, located behind a cellar hole I finally got a barber. It was the only coin I found. Did find 5 belt buckles and two suspender clips. I wonder what was going on in that field?

Nice find. Maybe you can find its sister. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Now isn't that a pretty coin. Always feels good to dig up one of those. WHO KNOWS MAYBE MORE THERE.

Are you using some sort of a shadow box for your coin pic?

going on in that field. Someone was losing buckles and dimes! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

I put a tissue over the flash....I removed a layer of the tissue. The full tissue was too dark...

From the land of the Bluenose.....imagine that you have more to find at that location. Congrats and looking forward to morephotos!

The night before I came home I did go back for an hour or so. I found an Ox shoe and a musket ball. I was using the 12.5" coil (1250). Even though the field was just cut the remaining grass is still 5-7" tall and very course. It is very tough to get close to the ground without bowing the detector shaft and working up a sweat. Fortunately the barber was in a semi bare spot, and gave a reading of 10", the deepest reading I have gotten so far. The coin was every bit that deep.
This intersection had 4 taverns 4 churches and a couple of stores built between 1790 - 1820. There are two foundations but they are full of washing machines, refrigerators, tires etc. There are two more across the road which I haven't touched yet. There is one structure standing. It appears to have been a church about 15 X 20. I did that area in the spring and along with a case of poison ivy I found a 1916 Merc.
Any tips on field searching would be appreciated.....................thanks Rich
Pardon the lengthy response...I've been in Maine 6 days by myself.
