Find from a few weeks ago

I haven't posted on this forum for a long time but have been viewing this page since I got my Explorer a few years ago. A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to find my best coin to date. It is a gold 1757 half escudo, found in plowed field where an early cabin site had sat. I had started out the day with my X5 but only got a couple of buttons. Once I switched over to the Explorer it was the second signal I dug. Explorers kick butt in iron infested sites. The half dime is to show how small it is. I never thought I would find a coin this old in KY. Hope this inspires a few of you to get out and find something good this weekend.

Hi Tim, How deep was the coin and what did it I.D. at?That is one great find!

Thank Mike,
It was only 2-3 inches down. It rang up near the bottom, middle, right of the screen. I was also using ferros mode.

Awesome finds! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! A GOLD coin is on my want to find list for sure!! Old homesteads are definitely higher odds sites. I haven't seen an escudo come from a land site that I can remember. You have a really nice one for sure! The half dime ain't bad either <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
