Finding silver halves

I was just curious if it was very unusual for me to have found 3 walking liberty halves in the 10 months
since I started detecting? I belong to a club and don't hear much of them, wonder how others do with halves?
Thanks.Bob

Depends on the type of sites you hit I would think. Are you finding them in different spots or all the same area? If they are in the same area maybe there was a seeded hunt there at some point. If different than you pick great spots to hunt. Send some of that my way hehe:lol:

I found one (walking) in my first year, which was last year but I'm sure most of the long-timers have found many. Hope you find lots more. Seems to me you'd have to be pretty careless with your money to lose a coin that size but it happens, heck I'd probably lose my head if it wasn't fastened.

Congrats,

Indeed it is very unusual, if you want to put it that way, to find three walking liberty halves in the first ten months of detecting. Beginners luck? I've found a few of them in the twenty years since I started swingin', but never three within a ten month period, at least not lately. I'd say credit goes to a great detector and a skilled operator (and a little luck). Very well done. Best of luck to you on all future hunts.

I use an Ace 250 and i'm sure it's more luck than skill, but I didn't know how many hunters DO find halves, guess i'm going in the right places.

I found a 1941 Liberty half about 8 months ago with my GTI1500. I rang as C sized target at 50c and was buried about 3 inches near an old tree stump. It's the only one I've found in 5 years of detecting!
