can see that good sites still exist....it just takes time and effort in finding them. Sometimes they can be all together in one location and other times there will only be a site out of quite a few that have stuff in them. It's a gamble and the only way to know for sure is to start hitting them sites one by one and keep moving. Thanks for your response. I'm glad you like my postings. Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.:detecting:

When I got out....I go out HARD! I detect as much as possible and if you were to put the Energizer Bunny up against me, you may find I just might run it out of juice. Seriously, I have a passion for this hobby and it's one that would be very hard to stop doing since I just love seeing the site of them Old Coins coming to the surface after sitting in the ground for so long. Thanks for the reply Backlashd and hope you too can experience a great site loaded with goodies on one of your hunts as well. Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

James,

Was good to see you and meet some of the others last evening.

I think you guys should be getting more seated coins than you do. They were minted to 1891 and most of the towns were founded well before that. They probably circulated into the 1920s. Barber coins were pretty common in circulation until the 40s.

I'm not sure why you guys aren't getting more. I told Dale that I thought it might because you use semi-auto sensitivity, or it could be dirt builds up quicker out in the prairie. Where I am up in MN it is very sandy, soil formation is slow and I've found a couple seated. Have to figure out the ratio to other silver.

LOL, your results show it! I'll be pumped when I do find some old silver and I've got a couple good leads. I don't know how deep they'll be or if I can reach the really old stuff though because of the floods through the years here in the delta. If so I'll head fer the hills,:detecting:. Its cool to see what is possible when you really get after it, definitely inspiring! Thanks for sharing and HH!

As far as the Seated go, I'm not sure why we don't find more than we do. It could be that a lot of it was picked up years ago with other detectors and it also could be because some of it is buried so Deep due to the Dirty Thirties.

I have used Manual quite a bit and it does help get just a bit more Depth but not much around here. Too many choppy signals when using Manual all the time and have seen some signals that came in better when in Semi-Auto. Guess it just depends on the Soil Conditions and other factors.

I think the reason the Coins don't sink in the Sandy Areas is due to the grains being so tightly packed that the Coin or object can't sink like it can in Black Dirt around here in the Prairie Region. That's why some areas that have Sandy Soil seems to have hardly anything Old for Coins when a person searches them but I could be wrong on that. There is plenty of sites to search in the area you are at right now and hope you find many more keepers to take home with you when you go back to Wisconsin. Hope to meet up and get some detecting in with you and Good Luck and HH to you if you make it out during the week. It was good to see you again!
