Today I was in a bean field in an area with a lot of iron bits and pieces. I ran my program and upped the reactivity to 3. This was the only change I made. Even though I had upped the reactivity the targets still buzzed the iron sound as you wiggled back for pinpoint. So here's the lesson. In normal ground without loads of iron if you wiggle back off a target and get the buzz sound you have a crap target most of the time but today there was sooo much iron that there were no clean targets so you dig. On a cleaner field I would most likely dig after hearing the buzz too but I would be factoring in the location and size of the target. Spend more time trying to find a reason to dig instead of not.
The colonial buttons were out in force with a Tombac a couple of broken shoe buckles broken Crotal bell two types of thimbles. Lots of fun but no coppers.
