Finds near Yorkshire

Hi just trying to find some good places to do some detecting as i am new to this hobby just purchased a Teknetics T2. Has anyone had any good finds near or around the yorkshire area.

A bad day yesterday 8 hours detecting and all i found was a penny farthing a mustket ball and an old button rest was just junk.

When crops are not growing fields are super places to get multiple goodies.......you may have to do some door knocking but one great field will keep you busy a long time....
good luck,
Bill

Matt.

Dewsbury Detecting Club have regular digs in a number of places but I am unsure if membership is open, have a look on their website (Dewsbury District MDC).
Or you can travel to the Central Searchers digs and pay on the day.

Matt there will be days like this and it might appear as if it is a waste of time.

Finds wise it could seem that way, looking at it from another angle did you learn anything about your machine?

I have found that with a new machine in the first few outings it is better to think about getting to know how to use it and if I find any keepers well that's just a bonus.

Once you get a "feel" and learn the sounds, what the T2 is telling you then your finds rate will increase no end.

You will still be in the curve, what sounds did you hear, did you get the high pitch and the grunts.
Did you dig some iffy signals to see what they were.
Did you try a few different settings to se what suited you and what didn't.

All these sort off things will be like money in the bank "in time", try not to become despondant in the early days.
Once you learn the T2 and if you walk over a keeper it will find it but you will need to know what to listen for when it does.

Try and get a detecting buddy or join a club, at least you will not be on your own and a mate or two can keep one another going.:beers:

Great advice! Don't take your detector or digging tools up when you go. Try to just act like your looking for info. Maybe start out with an introduction of yourself and what you like to do. Then ask if they might have a suggestion on where to look and who to talk about it with. MOST people love telling you the what they know. Once they get to know you will give you permission too!
