Finds over the weekend

Still learning the machine but I seem to have gotten the basics down. None of the silver I've found with the Deus rang up higher than 83. I get a lot of iron falses in the mid 90s. I'm thinking about notching 95-99 out to cut some of them out. Have any of you dug anything 95 or higher that wasn't junk yet? I'm using 12 khz.

Nice finds!

Are you certain you are using 12 KZ?

Do you have Andys book? If no then I will tell you its well worth it.

Go into Options on the top left, go to configurations, scroll to Profile, (assumming you are running V 3.0 or higher) look at the Normalize and it probably says NO. If you change it to YES you will have consistantly high numbers for any frequency. "I think". Don't have my book here at work but I think that is right.

There are some downfalls to using the "NORMALIZE" funtion but getting the book will explain it and a WHOLE LOT MORE!! That book is amazing!

I don't use the normalize function and I was using the 11. something khz(as close to 12 as it will go) and the newest version. I dig by audio but I was checking the numbers to see what I could notch out to get rid of most of the iron falsing.

Clad quarters ring up btw 91-93 for me when using 12 kHz. I believe that a small spill of quarters rang up slightly higher but am almost positive that my best find at something like 96 was a small toy truck! :)

PS The 2 silver coins I've found so far rang in below 90, as did a few small pieces of silver jewelry.

No I didn't air test. 2 were 6+ inches and came in at 79-82 and the stained up barber was surface in a field and read a solid 82.

Every silver dime I dug in 12kHz was a solid 88. What is your ground balance set at???

I to lately have been having erratic #'s i been thinking about sending it in to see if it is calibrated correctly. (If there is such a thing)

I dug a 2 Franc silver coin that is probably a bit bigger than a quarter using 12 KHz and it had a very smooth tone with a solid 96 TID from every swing direction using the 9

Make sure the coil is up in the air away from ground and or metal when powering up; remember this includes earphones.
Powering up the coil around ground, metal or lots of electrical interference will cause I'd numbers to be out of calibration.
This is all corrected by by turning off, then back on with out any interference.

Hope this helps!

My fiance has my truck so I'll have to wait and see what it was set at when she gets home. I'll also do some air tests on the coins and see how that goes.

I am not a fan of notching. The more descrim you use the more of a chance you have at missing a deep target on edge of detection. I dig all my deep signals!

Thanks for advice, but i am positive i turned on correctly. And I apologize for hijacking this thread. Was not my intention.:surrender:

Increasing the numbers on the silencer by will help to rid of iron falsing but it is also a filter so it
