Finished 2nd Place for this years Find Of The Month Competition.:detecting:

James N.D.

New member
This year was a fun filled year with a lot of nice finds not only by me but by all the members of the Club. I belong to the Minnkota Artifact Recovery Group, or also known as MARG for those that would like to know. Sunday was out Christmas Party and there were prizes that one could choose from when called up to the table (starting with 1st Place down to 20th Place) and the Club gave prizes out all the way down to 20th Place this year. I believe there were 36 Members at the Party out of 50+, which was a great turn out and a lot of fun. I finished 2nd this year and I chose a replica Peace Dollar that is ONE TROY POUND OF SILVER. That's Right! ONE TROY POUND OF SILVER!!! After everyone had received out prizes of choice, we played Deal Or No Deal, which was fun but there wasn't enough Film Canisters for all the Members in attendance, so a few didn't receive anything. Inside each Canister was assortments of different Coins, Paper Money with Coins, and some even had a note that was for a Troy Ounce of Silver. All the contents of each Canister were on a board so everyone knew what was in them, except for the Troy Ounces, they were a bonus prize. I was one of the unlucky ones along with the 1st Place finisher for the year Tim Pazdernik. But that was O.K., because we had more than our share of Luck during the detecting season and it was nice to see others get a few things for a change. After that we played some bingo for a few left over coins from the Find Of The Month Prizes, which a few more than 20 were bought so there was more of a variety of prizes to choose from. I Won a 1891 Seated Dime with a Bingo. We also had Gift Exchange for the members and we all had tickets that were drawn and if your ticket was drawn, then it was your turn to go get a wrapped gift of your choice, without knowing what was inside them. I picked out one and I opened it and found a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar. There was also a Raffle for some Silver Rounds and other Coins and also a separate Raffle for a 1/10th Ounce Gold American Eagle. I wasn't lucky enough to win anything from those 2 raffles but that didn't matter, it was all the fun and especially the great food that was brought with from each member and also the Ham and Scalloped Potatoes and etc. that Rick and Lavonne Schroeder provided for the Christmas Party, that all made up for what I didn't get on the Raffles. Rick even donated 3 Nice Walking Liberty Half Dollars to the Club, which were also raffled away. A big Thanks to Rick for being such a wonderful Sport and one of the nicest Guys you could ever meet.:clapping: It sure was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed themselves. Too bad it is only once a year! Thanks to the Club and Rick and Lavonne Schroeder for the terrific Christmas Party and Food and to the Club and all the members for the great Prizes awarded to the members down to 20th Place.:clapping::super: Good Luck to you all next season and HH. Pics of my Troy Pound Front and Back, along with a size comparison of the Troy Pound and the Seated Dime side by side. Also the Half and the Seated Dime Front and Back. Sorry, I didn't have my Camera Denny! Sure was a blast though and can't wait until next years Christmas Party! Good Luck and HH to you and your wife.

It sure was fun and I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Good Luck and HH to you TomTowns.

Greetings James N.D. Sounds like y'all had a great Christmas party. That 16oz Sure is nice:thumbup: Don't drop it on your toe:stars: Where did it come from? Happy Hunting Grounds,

Savage (EX-II}

James that was one hunk of silver you got, now if silver would get to $50 a ounce like it was before you would have a lot of gas money for next year.
We were glad to have the club to our place for the party and the club meeting as it helps us too with all the wonderful people that come for supper before the meeting plus some have a little refreshments in the bar also. This way I can make the meeting and see what everyone finds too. I just got to get out more and try to take first or second or third or even 4 or 5th or 6th as all the prizes were good. I cant even remember what place I got, but got a 1893 Columbian exposition halve dollar.

Next year Buddie maybe things will be different.

Rick

But I am going to be reading the instructions with the Camera that you borrowed me so I can get all my Season's Finds posted for everyone to see. Thanks again Rick for letting me use the Camera and I will see you Friday.

All the Prizes were bought at a Coin Shop. It sure is a hunk of Silver that is for sure and it makes another nice addition to my collection. The Club had a certain amount that they could spend that was OK'd from everyone and then the items were purchased. This years Prizes were very nice and I don't think too many went home thinking that they didn't get something nice for whatever place they took.

Can't wait until next season to see what I can find and what place I end up taking again. Good Luck and HH when you get out.

I use Digital on my Explorer XS if that is what you are referring too. If not, be more Specific!

And a great attitude to boot, the club gathering sounds like a winner. I have a 3 of those 1 pound silver rounds and lots of 1 oz proofs collected over the years, some won, others purchased, they tone out quick too and make SWEET additions to a collection. :)
The sun is bright, lite breeze and I'm headed out in a few to dig some holes.
Enjoyed the post.
Good Hunting
Mike

Hope you found something good and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.

It is hard to tell TomTowns. I scanned it across the Explorer XS with Deep On so it would have a better ID on it but it depends on how close you have it to the coil. I got a 26 on it at about 6" away and when I got real close to it, the readout was higher, around 28-30. It also was different when I scanned it further away from the coil which was giving me various ID's in the lower 20's. This is too hard to get a for sure ID on it since it is so big. It is about 4 Half Dollars Thick so it is a Huge Chunk of Silver. Looks great in my Collection too. Good Luck and HH to you if you are able to get out TomTowns!
