Hi guys, tonight I was out at my favorite local park. Personally, I've never found anything very old there besides a few wheats but it's close to where I live and in the evening there are hardly any people in the park so you have the run of the place up until dusk. My Mom and Brother hunt there also and a good number of years ago my Mom found what we think has been the only silver in the family found at this park, a 1919 mercury dime.
Tonight I was using the 10.5" HF coil and my first find was a 1964 nickel. A few minutes later I had a weak signal that was jumping around between 38 and 40 something. I dug down about 5" before my Pro Pointer started chirping. Once I got a little over 6" the pointer started beeping away. One more scoop and I saw a coin and it looked silver. At first I was shocked because I thought it was a merc. After closer examination I was extremely shocked to see that it was a 1911 barber. The funny thing was that my 705 had been giving me the low battery warning for nearly 10 minutes up until I heard that target. I guess that proves what they say about it running at full power up even until the point that it shuts down on low battery.
