First day with the GTP1350

You are gonna love it! It is a great machine, keep us posted.

My first day out with the 1350 I was really amazed at how little trash I had picked up. On a normal day I always had WAY more trash than Goodies
Looking forward to getting out again and use the 1350, before I have to get into the water again.

i love mine! just tried the 4.5 inch coil yesterday and was very impressed with depth and how much it found, over $2 in 25 min!!oh and 2 pull tabs. i like my ace 250 also, but the 1350 is more stable, has a little more power, and more clearly identifies targets.this is the first ive ever tried the 4.5 inch coil on the 1350.its a very light machine that i could swing all day. i went to sams club and bought some energizer 2500mh rechargable batteries with chargers and they will last a very long time between charges. have fun!!

I agree with you on the 4.5" coil, it is GREAT for separating out trash! I have recently started trying something new, I added a Sun ray YF-1 probe, and am using it with the 10 X 14 DD coil on a relatively junk free beach. I can cover a LOT of ground with that coil, and the probe lets me set the machine down next to the dig and probe, VS grabbing a handful of sand and passing it over the coil then getting up and rescanning the hole etc. The 10 X 14 DD goes DEEP even on pull tabs, but makes the machine a bit nose heavy. I am looking for jewelry so I only notch out about the bottom 4 notches to get rid of iron. Happy Hunting!! (Oh yea, for power I am using a Ray O Vac IC3 4 slot recharger and batteries, it will charge 4 Bat's in 15 minutes, and they definitely last a solid day, and for casual after work hunting, they will last all week. Put an inverter in the car and you are never without fresh power!!)

After using it for a while the green fella will be begging you to get out every spare minute you have....

Cheers!

It got me over 150 silver coins last year. There is a lot to learn about that machine. Even if you were blind, you could hunt with that machine. It has a program in it that allows the machine to identify a coin sized object with just a short beep. You can also hunt at night with that program, and just use the flashlight to dig.

I can pretty much use the ace 250 in the dark, but
like you say, it's the digging and finding the article
in the dark, that requires some light. I find it kind
of a hassle, and usually quit when it gets really dark.
But if I had a lantern, or something...No problem.
I've kicked around adding some kind of lighting to the
ace 250, but I'm kinda paranoid to mess with it while it's
under warranty. I don't know how they would take to that,
even if I totally avoided the electronics and batteries
of the unit. I've considered rigging up a clip on light
that could clip to the top "hood" of the head, but not
sure how that would pan out. I'm sure I would use white
LED's no matter if outboard, or internal like I'd prefer.
I'd use a separate battery for any light as I don't want
any extra drain on the detector if I did that.
After a cold cruddy weekend, I got to play in the dirt a
bit this afternoon. No big haul, but got 27 more coins.
I'm now up to 356 coins just out of my yard alone, and
steady keep plodding along when I get time to detect.
There are plenty more I'm sure, and I think I'll bust
500 before too long. :)
I'm using my yard as kind of my "training ground" for
the machine. I don't care that most are pennys...Just
as long as I'm finding coins. I'm starting to learn some
of the quirks, and get better at reading it as I go
along. I'm kind of amazed I'm not even close to cleaning
out my yard yet. Lots of lost coins, but it also is a good
test for the machine that it can sniff em out. :)
To Dan, you'll like that machine. I look at the higher end
models and kinda drool. The 2500 is really slick with all
that size ID, imaging, etc..

:cry:Well here on the west coast we are having freezing temps, and the ground is frozen. Even the wood chip play grounds are froze. Man 1 day with a new tector and now I have to wait.

You bet the 1350 is a winner. I bought my 1350 last June, I had never owned a modern detector ( had a WWII mine detector when I was a kid), after just 3 hours I found my first diamond ring for a desperate young lady at the beach. Since then I have found 670 coins and a bucket full of relic/junk. I also purchased a ACE 250 for my Grandchildren to use when they are with me. I seeded my back yard with pennies in order to teach them how to use a metal detector and hopefully get them to love the hobby as much as I do. Last week I found a 1909 dime, my 1st real silver coin.
HAPPY HUNTING.

Here is an idea, I just purchased a WHITE 120mm Bullseye II and it has one of those LED lites that come on every time you activate the probe. I haven't had a chance to test it in the dark; however the LED flashlights work just great. By the way the BULLSEYE II is a great improvement over the BULLSEYE I with the toggle switch.
