First Delta 4000 hunt..

Yesterday I received the Delta and took it out this morning. The first field i was a little annoying because there was a lot of falsing. I lowered the sens to 8. On this particular field none of us made some decent finds and I had nothing but trash. After we found a small farmersfield, it didn't take long until I made my first nice find. In an hour time I found 3 18th century coins and some other things. I kept sens at 8 the whole time. My buddies were using XP and tesoro but the Delta found the most this time. Next time I guess I have to bite the dust.

All in all I loved the Delta's performance and the light weight above all. I bought it with the 5'' coil as an extra and will try this set up next week.

Anyone can tell me if this 5 incher get decent depth?

Thanks, Eric.

Holland.

Congrats on your finds. You must be in Europe (too). ;-)

I have the Omega and get great depth with the 11"DD and have only used my 5"DD sparingly so can't really comment.

But, Monte has posted that he gets great depth with the 5" on his Omega (6"-7" range if memory serves me right). Even if you get 5" you are going to be finding lots in and around trash. I think the depth on the Delta is pretty much the same but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So you saw the German Stuber ha!

The soil here is very mild so I don't need manual groundbalance. I had many top of the line detectors but I just want to have an easy and light machine that does a fair job.
If the Delta keeps producing as he did today, I am more than happy!

Eric.

Very nice finds. I have an Omega, too, and use the 5" coil a lot and in my ground, gb 60-65, it will hit dime size coins nicely in the 6-7" depth range. HH jim tn

Thanks Jim, looking foward to give the 5 incher a go this week. Will post my results.

Where are you at? And what is a Stuber!

You should try Ground Balancing anyway, it will only get you a little more depth. I believe giving it a slightly positive ground balance will get you even more.
I got mild soil where I'm hunting and set it slightly positive.

Good luck!

How can I GB the Delta?

The Stuber is a German coin from the 18/17th century. It's pretty common and we regularly find them here. All from the German states.

Nice finds Eric... the 5" coil will help alot in trashy areas... I use the T2 but I can vouch for the 5" getting great depth ....

Sorry Eric, I didn't realize the Delta doesn't have GB.

Watch me find a Stuber searching today ;-) I'm in Germany and didn't even know that...

It is definitely a favorite for me for a lot of my hunting needs. For the month of September I left it on my Omega the entire time. A full month with the 5" Double-D confirmed for me just how good it is. i have always preferred a smaller-than-stock coil for a bulk of my hunting due to trash and/or tight confines in homesteads, ghost towns, or in the brushy areas that have grown on the fringes of old parks and such.

With other things going on and doctor visits it cut in a bit on my time but that dinky coil still helped pull 895 coins for me in September, several sterling silver jewelry items and a gold bracelet and 14k gold ring. Whether using the stock 8" or the 5' on your Delta, you still need to make sure you learn the best sweep speed for success with each of them. The Delta works different from the Gamma and Omega because it has a different audio process. With my Omega i can get a little better weaker-signal depth due to the 'gray scale' or 'proportional' audio response where as the Delta relies on a 'saturated' or 'binary' type audio report. In short, if the Delta gets sufficient signal to process, it is sent along with the 'saturated' or full-strength audio report to its functional depth.

It's nice to have a variety of detectors available to us and I personally like the compliment of the easy-to-use Delta to make a good 2 or 3 detector arsenal. I just finished two days of seminars for a local dealer this weekend and used a variety of detector sin the classroom session and then showed what they could do in the park setting. It was easy for folks to see why I like the delta as my quick-to-action unit. I've been using all of the Teknetics coils on the delta, Omega and G2 this last few days in some comparisons afield and, as I found in August, the 5" DD did well. Just know that because these detectors process signals a little differently you want to make sure you know the best sweep speed for top results with them.

I live in NW Oregon and we don't have much mellow ground here. Plus there's a lot of 1, 2 and 3 bar readings on the Omega's Fe3O4 display so we have some challenges, but the Delta does quite well. Let us know how that 5" performance works after several times out. I think you'll like it a lot. I know i do!

Yes I also prefer the smaller coils. Like you, I was always a huge fan of the whites Bullseye 5.3 coil on the whites classics and XL pro.I just was starting to learn about the teknetics greek series recently. First I thought they are the same as the BH line but once I received the delta, I was convinced that it has good quality. When I used it in the field last sunday... I was sold:)

I just love it's weight and performance. Of course it will not outhunt the detectors of my buddies always but I proved that I can keep up with other brands expensive detectors while using the Delta..
Have to learn more about the sensitivity I can use though. Mostly I kept it on 8 and going up meant that it becamen unstable. There were powerlines in the surroundings.

So I can say that I am very happy with my Delta. No sore shoulder anymore for me!

HH, Eric. Holland.
