First Eagle Button

Found on old home place in Warren County Georgia. I hate that its in rough shape but still happy. Probably belonged to soldier returned home after war. No close by battles. Think Shermans march came within 10 miles around Ogeechee river. Back has a P or R on it. Also an odd glob of something rang up 51 on Legend. Seems to have a pattern on one side.

That Globb almost looks like lead that got poured off into window screen or masonry cloth... burlap would've just burned away... I'm just assuming that soldiers made their own shot over a campfire... and wouldn't leave the scrap lead behind... unless they lost it of course... or got captured... Great Finds

Congrats on your first Eagle button and here is to many more.

Couple other finds from old school house long gone but steps about half mile from the button location. 1937 Indian Nickle. Slote & Klein buckle and a BIG 4 overalls button. School was there late 1800s to 1930s. I love it.

Yes I found an 1852 large cent plus half dozen flat buttons. Have dated to late 1700s all the way up to a 1919 wheatie. Bricks galore structure long gone heavy woods now. Now gonna start to probe and look for a dump site has got to be a nice one somewhere in the gullies leading to the creek area.

I would to find what you guys find back there!! Nice recoveries.
