First ever large Copper

Shoreman

New member
Recently got back into detecting and when I previously detected years ago it was very limited. Bought a new garret at max and today on my 5th trip out Found my very first ever large Copper coin in a farm field. Coin is in pretty rough shape but good enough on face of coin to identify as a georgvis ll. Back is pretty smooth and can't get a date. Coin was minted between 1727-1760. Gotta say I'm pumped to have found it! My favorite find to date.

Congratulations on your first copper! It's always a thrill digging one, or any old coin. I haven't found one with the Max yet, but have found several with previous detectors. Good luck!!

Thank you hanoverdigger. Yes it was a trill. I have always wanted to dig one. Something about the large coppers I love. I've dug a couple silver coins and is awesome to see shiny. But the large Copper's are my favorite. Can't wait to get back out in search of the next one.

Whoohoo!!!! No turning back now.. ive found many in the past but lately not so much... yours looks in better shape than most..congrats...

Found my second large Copper this weekend but unfortunately pretty smooth. Pictured are some other recent finds from 2 different permissions. 3 Indians 1864, 1881 and 1883. 4 small buttons and a large damaged button. Also found these old nails or pegs???? There huge! But pretty cool.. now 2 long weeks ahead til my next detecting trip. That is unless I sneak out one evening........
