I live in central Maryland and am very new to metal detecting. If found two objects today and have no idea what they are. One appears to be some sort of rivet/connector to something leather. There even seems to be some leather remaining. At first I thought the other object was a coin until I wiped it clean. Any thoughts?

With a diameter of near 3/4” I would agree with horse tack or maybe even mules etc. you should/will probably find more which will help tell the tale.
You didnt mention what area you were in such as old farm or field etc. and that help with telling the story too.

We’re actually in the woods, but there are signs that indicate it used to be a farmstead. (Horseshoe, barbed wire, etc.)
