I went out with the Omega for the first time. All I can say is that I do like the Omega but change always involves a learning curve of some type. I was just out trying to get my first 50 hrs or so on the machine so I know what to expect. The ground balance is new to me. Around here I would have to say we must have pretty good dirt. I never had a problem before with my Ace 250 but, then again if I did, what could I do about it but maybe reduce sensitivity. So I was and am still trying to wrap my brain around that. With the bars up or below and up and down arrows and all. I decide to detect the school that is directly across the street from me. I have hit this place hard and continually. I always seem to do pretty good there. My Grandmother graduated high school from there in '26. Now it has a gate around the main portion of the schoolyard but there is a couple of areas that are ungated. I went to a small area where the principal and vice principal park and swung my coil there. I found the silver ring and the Chrysler key fob there. I also went to an area that is used for PE which I have hit real hard and found 3 of the nickels that I have left behind. There are more there I know. The silver coins have to be there too. I will get them sooner or later. I also found 2 clad dimes,15 pennies and a piece of atoy gun. I was trying to dig all of the 55,56,57, targets I could. All 3 nickels I dug registered as 56 and 57. If it was just 57 or just 56 or if 55 was in there anywhere it was pull tabs. It had to say 56 and 57.Is this what everyone else is experiencing with nickels? The ring says STERLING ESPO inside of it. Silver any day is good for me. The bottom line is I have alot more learning to do until I feel comfortable with this machine. Change has a way of doing that though. Sorry for the pics. A camera is the next thing I buy with my metal detecting booty. HH and good luck to all of you.
