First hunt with the etrac....yes I am IMPRESSED

got my etrac yesterday.......

and well today went to the yard I had all the interference with last week with my minelab x-70.

Took the etrac up front, hit noise cancel, and it ran smooth as a top, no interference at all. I had sensitivity in auto and it was 23, and I had +1, so it was running at 24. First signal I get is a deep dime signal. I cut the plug, open it up, out comes a nail, I scratch my head thinking hmmm, it was definitely a dime signal, ran out hole again. Dime signal still strong, pinpointer goes into the hole, out comes a second nail. I am getting frustrated. Run coil over the hole, dime signal is still there! Take a bit more dirt out and I see a silver rim in the bottom of the hole. Pull it out and it is a barber dime! 1902........I was literally AMAZED the etrac saw this dime underneath 2 nails. I was impressed to say the least!

Next I got a mixed signal, but it sounded good from all directions, cut a plug and got a silver nickel and 2 wheats, nice little spill. Ended up with one more wheat.

So two silver, and 3 wheats........2 hour hunt. First hunt with the etrac impressed me big-time!

here is a vid I made as well

Awesome Bro!
I'd love to buy an E-Trac but I'm not sure I can afford it. I hear its an incredible machine though and I'm happy you got one. That's a blessing to be sure. Maybe if I sold my truck but then how would I get around? ha!

well my sweet wife knew how much I love detecting, and after we got our tax return back we paid off several bills and with money left over she told me I could buy an etrac. She knew I have wanted one for at least a yr. I already love minelab using the x70, and I knew the etrac was the best machine on the market now.

I told you so! I knew you would see a difference! Congrats my friend! :detecting::thumbup:

Yeah , now I will be wanting an E trac and that just won't happen unless I find a treasure chest full of stuff with my x-terra 70.

Congrats on the new detector and the old coins....Still finding wheaties Wheatie Man! :) May God Bless! Ma Betty

So, I've been thinking about the same or a similar jump. Would you consider an Explorer if you could not make an Etrak? What if you could get an SE Pro for 700 to 800$?

There is an area that has a bunch of huntable trash ridden older houses. I have had trouble there even with my 6" DD

I am honestly not sure, I have never used an explorer or SE pro? I do know that on the minelab forum, I have seen people sell their explorers to get etracs. So I honestly cannot say.

How is the sweep speed compared to the Xterra?
