First hunt with the Xterra 705, first eight holes I dug, all deep bullets.

Added another weapon to the arsenal, this 705 is a smooth, deep relic finder! I think my MXT might be a little better on smaller sized pistol shots? I know one thing, for my first time hunting with it I was happy. Mark Daughtrey gave me some tips on his set up, my first eight holes were deep bullets, three ringers. I dug two holes that were not bullets, one was a spur end and the other was a square nail. We only got in about three hours hunting before getting rained out last Friday. I hope Mark and I can get out soon, I am itching to give it a shot at another spot. I do think this detector is underrated, mainly because folks may not have the right coil and set up properly. I have been very happy with my MXT, but I have kept an open mind to other machines. When Mark got one and had equal or better success in hunts as I did with my MXT I was interested. I also believe that maybe less bells and whistles make better detectors, less is more sometimes

I really like my XLT and still do, but the Minelabs are great! I have the XT-70 and love it. It will surpass on finding the small stuff, sometimes too small and too deep can be irritating on the small junk. I can detect a small rivet head at 6"+. I can't imagine the 705 is too much better than the 70 but you have an awesome machine. Like they say, your hunted out sites will become your new hot spots so go back to those old sites and get the goodies. You will be pleasantly surprised. Deep iron especially when moist will fake out the detector but that is not a bad thing. The detector will default to the best signal when two or more targets are in the same hole. Consider buying the 10.5" 7.5 KHz DD coil, it really goes deep and offers the best coverage. I also have the 9" 3 KHz coil and it does not impress me much, just heavier, but you might have a use for it, I don't. Keep us informed on how the machine performs for you, I think you will be really impressed and it is much lighter and easier to swing. HH, Mike
