Found these two Indian head pennies at a park in town today. Here they are before the peroxide bath.

Stopped at an old farm house on the way home and recieved permission to detect from the older woman who lived there. Wasn't there 10 minutes when I found this 1838 Large cent about 8-9 inches down.
Sad part. Right after I found it I hear the old lady behind me saying, "I just talked with my kids on the phone and they said they didn't think I should let you do that" Man!! Now I can only wonder what else is in the ground there.

I think I liked the way it looked before I gave it a peroxide bath. Oh well, I'll take her. Love finding large cents.

metal detecting on their property. It seems many feel that there has to be gold coins and rings there and that you're "stealing" it from them when the reality is that they are most likely never ever going to spend the time required to hunt or the money to buy a detector(let alone an Explorer or other high end machine) and learn it well enough to find those or any coins for that matter. Frankly I enjoy showing people what's been found since it educates them about history and our hobby. I have to say that since I've moved West of Cleveland that I have yet to find one property owner that just says " Have at it, have a good time"...it's even made me think about giving up THing since I don't need the frustration and it ruins the fun...but I guess that just part of the hobby and just people in general. Nice finds...HH

If I get a no I just go to the next home. Someone will eventually say yes. There are tons of old homes. Being in Ohio you have even more than Michigan. Keep knocking and roll with the punches. Jim
