First large silver

Well finally found a half dollar. The coin was 2 inches in a field bouncing from 32 33 to 38,39 and 40 yes 40. Also found an 1840 LC with a stamp on it but the silver is my first. Anyway someone on here said nothing good is at 40 but I just proved that there are good things at 40. I am very happy to finally find a half great day. By the way I run auto sense in high trash and all metal and that is all I run just to give you my settings just for anyone who would care to know thanks for looking. Will post the button and LC later

[size=medium]croakersmoker....congrats on your sweet silver find and detecting a half dollar is a lot to be proud of!!!!!!
I'll bet you and I pretty much can guarantee you that there were other targets in the immediate vicinity of the half dollar that were causing your detector to jump around and particularly to register the 40 you said was on your screen.
Most experts will tell you that basically, nothing good comes in at 40 and to block it out. What it generally will be is rusted iron and that's about it . I don't know if you swept the coil around the area after you found the half because I think you'll find some other stuff in there still. Congrats again on your new addition to your silver collection!! WTG!!

Way to go Croaker!!!!! That is one of my favorite coins. You are working that Safari pretty well. Keep it up, looking forward to some more finds!

Thanks About the 40 someone posted on here and showed alot of large rings that he said where all at 40.I have not found any there but the half was the only target there it was bent maybe thats why.But I cant say for sure. Also others have said they found halfs and dollars at 40

Congrats on the beautiful large silver. Still evades me. How mineralized is your soil. Was it flat or on its side. Any iron near the hole? In AM you will see 40. Null it out. Id bet you would have still got the silver. The Safari manuel(a joke)doesnt mention it but the 705 does. It has a 48 which is nulled out because its caused by a wrap around effect by iron halo. Ferrious does desolve to powder. Ive got a new Safari to be here today and if it air test a silver dollar at 34 its going back.(grd different) Ive sent 2 mds back because they dont ID correctly. All docs state it should be 38, 39. To much money to not have it work as it should. Ive bought used MDs that have had problems that people unload with EMI or ID problems and dont mention it. Mostly FTP products. I buy new only now for the warrenty. In NC I have 3 days to return if not satisfied and get money back no matter what co policy states. Att General is only an e-mail away.
