Well ,I must say. Coming from a Tesoro U-Max I was very confused. What a difference! I'm starting to get the hang of the new MD.I't sure goes deep!! I'ts really testing my patients.Did I mention how deep it goes?Been finding lots of clad. All most all of it has been 6 inchs deep or more.Went to few of my old spots and found lots more stuff. At this one park it was telling me a dime at 10 inches. well when I dug down 10 in. there was a silver 1939 Merk. Wow what a shock. This thing is very sensitive.I was ready to sell it the first week.Glad I didn't...These tones are tricky but after about 25 hours I'm getting the tones down.Since I found this forum I have learned tons of stuff. Thanks to everyone for your advice .I plan to be a regular on this site now.Just need to get one of those books to help.

Welcome aboard. I've had my safari about a month and have also been getting more familiar with it since upgrading from a BH land star. Lots of experienced folks here who are more than willing to share their advice with newbies like myself. I haven't purchased Andy's book yet, but have viewed some links to get accustomed to the safari.. This one wil help with functions, programs and sounds :http://www.mlotv.com/channel/4/minelab-safari-minelab-quattro-mp/
