First outing with a new to me Tiger Shark

Temperature hit 60 F and low tide for the local brackish water beach was mid-day, so had to get into the waders and try the Tiger Shark. Found small lead, pieces of pull tabs, full tabs and assorted junk. Managed to turn up a what I think is a 1952 penny that is about half the thickness it was when new (might be a 58, little hard to tell). Also got what I think is a silver ring. Will need to set up the electrolysis kit to work on cleaning it up. Was not able to get a good ground balance in normal mode but was able to ground balance in salt mode. I need to play with settings more; including taking the sensitivity down just a hair; it was a little bit chatty even with no coil movement.

Works well in these conditions. Will have to scout out some more beaches with the Tiger Shark.

Digging all that trash, means gold one day. Good luck on the cleaning the silver ring.

tabman,
Nov 2, 2014 I pulled a little 2.5 gram 14K gold band out of this same little beach. Was using the CZ20 for that hunt. When I got the CZ20 some years back, this little beach paid for it in short order. Pickings have been a little slim since mostly cleaning it out with the CZ20, but it does still yield goodies and gets a few new drops too.

Since I know this beach fairly well, it was a great place to test the Tiger Shark. The worn thin wheat penny that I got today was an interesting find. I was running minimum discrimination and heard clicks, like iron being mostly discriminated. I changed the sweep direction slightly and got a mostly solid beep, then dug up the penny. Couple of the lead sinkers were like that too. Since a larger coil will give me more area masked when I'm discriminating out the iron, I think I am happy to have the 8 inch coil. It is an older unit with coil connectors, but right now, for the beaches I expect to use it on, I don't think I will be looking for the larger coil.

Great outing. The better finds will come, it only happens if you are out there doing it. :twodetecting:

ya looks like a nice silver ring

Wow TVR,

60 degree temps. where are you located? I am in deep freeze lock down here in Ks, my Tiger has been in storage for several months.

I like the 'nut' shot, looks like some of my piles, the silver ring may clean up with some electrolysis.

Mid-Atlantic. A couple weeks back the local water had a skim of ice. It melted and yesterday we got one really warm 60 degree day with favorable tide timing. Today's high was 38 in the early morning. It is 26 now and we may not get above freezing again for the next week. Yesterday was just one of those days I had to take advantage of and it was even better that I had a "new" detector to try.
