Hit a farm field today with the SE and the new 10 x 14. It was a new field for me but has been hunted plenty by some others. My buddy Karl was there with his Quattro and 12.5" Excelerator coil. He got a flat button and a Buffalo nickel. I got two wheats, two buttons, and a musketball.
The new coil is definitely THE BOMB. I was running it at manual 28 sens and raised the gain to 7 and it was stable as a rock. I even cranked it to 30 for a time and it was great until I got near some power lines and then I had to drop to 26. Once I got a little away from them I went back to 28. It's especially immune to falsing when knocking against bean stalks and such, which is great because my stock coil is not good in that respect. I find the new coil to be very smooth and stable and has great depth and pinpoints well. I can see this becoming my "main squeeze" coil and the little 4.5 x 7 being my specialty coil for trashy sites and iron-laden areas.
So the site wasn't that "hot", but it was good to test the coil and see that it runs very well and I'm looking forward to hitting some other sites with it soon. And the beach...need to test it there, even though I'm an Excal guy on the beach.
