First RR Tag

Scortch

Went hunting with a few friends on Saturday to an 1880's ghost town. It was a hard hunt but tons of fun. We had three e-tracs swinging but only one coin was found, an 1891 V Nickle. There is so much iron, tin ect that even with Sun ray X-5 coils its hard to get good target separation. We found loads of do-dads; pocket watch parts, a couple of rings, buckles, buttons and odd ornate whatsits. One of my coolest find was this Kansas pacific Rail Road tag. Kansas Pacific was in business from 1863 to 1880 when it was bought out by Union Pacific. The KP rail ran from Kansas city MO through Denver Co to Cheyenne WY. I think it must be a freight tag as the last two letters are RY not RR, maybe short for rail yard. It has a makers mark on top of the strap hole, " E. Hoole N.Y." Does anyone know more about RR tags? I assume they are collectible as most RR stuff is.
Thanks for letting me share.
