First Silver of 2012

Went out today for short hunt and got my first silver for 2012 - a 1904 barber dime! My first 3 hunts this year haev been productive on wheaties, but no silver, so this was awesome!

Also, I am trying to make some videos of my hunts and they are not coming out as clearly as some of the video's that get posted here (Dr. Bob, G4E, etc.). Any tips would be appreciated - I am using a 12 megapixel digital camera and recording in macro-mode, but it doesn't seem to get the good close-ups of the coins that I see here :( (http://youtu.be/2KGzMPrSruY)

Congratulations on the Barber and your first silver of 1012. That Barber looks like it has great detail. Nice.

Cool finds

i have an older camera but it has different settings for video. can you see if you can find a menu on your camera that allows you to increase the image quality of the video? my camera has three settings, one is very crisp and nice, the other two are a lot smaller and more jumpy and pixelated. but my camera is very old, from around 2003, so if i use the highest setting it only lets me shoot for about 15 seconds and then it stops and saves the video.

still that was a good video, congrats on the dime.

What brand and model of camera are you using?

As for the closeups, some cameras have good macro modes, some don't. I did a lot of research for my latest camera I use. It's not the absolute best at anything, but it does everything very well.

Its an Olympus Stylus 1030 SW. I tried super-macro mode today - i will see how that posts and am hoping it looks a littl better.

Thanks for the tips.
