First off, I've been the better part of ten days recovering from something that literally put me on my back for nearly a week. Just been the last three or so days where I even started to think about doing some swinging.
Anyway, last Th ordered a new up-graded version F 75. My 3rd F 75 I have had since they first came out. Up to yesterday I have been nearly two years without one. I tracked it all weekend and as of 5:30 last night was still showing to be delivered yesterday. About 6:50 last night I decided to check its status one more time and noted it had been delivered at 6:46 with the notation "left on front porch." Scurried to the front door and sure enough, there it was.
Assembled it, dropped in 4 fresh batteries and turned it on and noted 12-14 made date. Cycled it through a few modes and all seemed to work.
Although I am still not feeling 100 percent, knew my hunting buddy was going to hunt some curb stripes with his up-graded F 75 so headed out for a short hunt to kind of check my unit out. Chris had already dug a Mercury dime by the time I got going. I wasn't gong to hunt to long, but did want to dig a few coins if I could.
I set the 75 up in de mode, left DST on, disc 0, 3h tones and cranked sen all the way up and it ran quiet. The patch I was hunting had a good bit of trash so backed sen down to 80 and left it there for the hour or so I hunted. I had told Chris I was going to call it a wrap and was hunting my way back to my vehicle when I hit another clad dime. Pocketed it and rescanned the hole and got another nice hit. This turned out to be the 43d Merc. from about 5" deep just off to the side of the hole the clad dime came out of. Ended up with that silver and 2 wheat cents, besides the cents and clad dimes.
Guys, in the dirt is the only test I have given this F 75 thus far. I don't have a clue if it will hit a nickel at 4" or 40" in the air. I think, though, it will find deep coins. HH jim tn
